Okay, so my sales manager says I have a partial VIN. He also said that it is going to be built the week of Nov. 8th.

My question is, what does having a partial VIN mean (apart from the obvious - only the beginning of the VIN)?

Can he be sure of my build week?

How long do you think it will take to get to the dealer?

Thanks,
Dan

I think what a partial VIN means is the last 8 characters of your VIN (which is your serial number) My dealer sent me a report which has the last 8 digits of the VIN and also the build date.
So I think you are ok, u can make th 17 char VIN based on the vin decoder

My car is being built Nov 8th week to. I've had a vin for 3 weeks. I do not believe they can get to scheduling without a vin.

Dan, make shure you have your dora it to will have the partial vin#, that will just tell you that it is able to be built, and that it's in Fords system. Stop by the dealer about once a week and check on the status report, while your ther take a test drive, and tell them youwill quit bothering them with test drives to expidite the production of your car!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys. I had to leave a voice mail so the only message I got was that I had a partial VIN and a build of Nov. 8. I had asked for the actual VIN number in the message however my sales manager obviously didn't think I really needed it. Ah well.

Jim, don't worry, the dealer will be my second home in the next few weeks.

yeah, my salesman said i had a partial vin, but it was the last eight numbers, which means that I actually know what my full vin is.

The last eight are the only ones that you can't "figure out"
