Quick question on clutch replacement

Hey guys... My sister's '05 V-6 seems to be in need of a clutch. The care has over 80k miles on it. I have not driven it but she is telling me that the clutch doesn't engage right away when she lets up on the pedal... So she lets the pedal out and maybe a few seconds later he gets power to the wheels; no sound or pop; just sudden grab of the clutch. I told her it sounds like the pressure plate because it doesn't slip just grabs late. It does not do this consistently... Very odd... I have no checked fluid yet either. I will probably look at it on Christmas day and wanted some suggestions or see if anyone else has had this issue.

Thanks in advance...

And have a Merry Christmas fellow stangers!
