I apologise if this has been asked before..... c:

Lets say a person were to order from a small town dealer that only had a GT allocation of 1. Due to a hot selling GT, that very dealer had six orders before some unlucky soul decides to pull the trigger. How long would that screwed soul be forced to wait?

Thanks

Not to sidetrack anyone, but would a dealer actually make a person wait 6 months for a car (IUP not an issue)?

I guess maybe I should ask if FORD would let a person wait that long. What ever happened to first come, first served?

it just all depends on how good your dealer wants to be and how things are going with the IUP situation etc.

Guys, I am with you and in your same boat. I ordered mid November and no car from small country dealer in northwest OH. I recently posted here that the dealer called and changed my car from IUP to IUP lite. He called yesterday and told me that his ford rep told him that the IUP issue seems to be clearing up, and more GT and GT IUP production will begin. He did say that it doesnt look like until maybe april till I would get the car. That is approximately 5-6 months, from order! I have also considered going the GTO route, however everyone around me (wife daughter, sister, friends) all say to wait.

Sam

I ordered from a small town dealer as well... but happened to be the first in line. I was pretty surprised since I ordered in late November. So far, things have processed pretty good for me. Depending on your area and the distance you are willing to drive, call around to see if you can find a dealer with few orders. You could luck upon a dealer that specializes mostly in truck sales that has a small but open allocation of Mustangs you could take advantage of. Also, if you are not picky about options, see if your dealer could locate a car at anohter dealer and do a swap to get it.

I considered the GTO as well when I was getting frustrated trying to talk to the larger dealers about ordering my Mustang. I'm glad I didn't go the GTO route... cost more, gas guzzler tax, poor/boring styling... and from what I hear, doesn't perform as well as the Mustang (off the strip).

They can make you wait as long as it takes to get another allocation. If they only get one allocation per month, then you would have to wait for the five people ahead of you, then you would get yours.

If there is another dealer within reasonable distance, check with them to see how many allocations they have, and buy there.

If they only get one allocation per year, then you are really screwed.

All a DORA is, is they have sent the car to Ford. If they haven’t done that in three month's, and you're still waiting...I told my dealership I wanted the DORA within a week, and that's what I got.

Hey Joe, there you go again with that GTO....

Don't know if you saw my breakdown or not in my reply elsewhere.

Have the dealer tell you exactly when they would expect it to be pulled, IUP issues aside, they know.

The IUP thing may be resolving itself so hopefully there is some good news soon

Yeah, I have moments of insanity. I could not own a GM product. I have always had Ford, probably always will.

I'm just frustrated that Ford would screw the guy who is trying to be loyal to their local dealer. I live in a small town and try to keep my money in a small town. This dealer sells trucks and SUVs. They had 1 GT (sonic blue) and 1 V-6 (yellow). I almost took the blue one but since my wife ordered the car for me as a 30th B-Day gift (don't kid yourself, I'm paying), I got the guilt treatment and passed. Well, now the GT is gone (still have the V-6) and I'm stuck with the long haul.

I just wish Ford wouldn't turn their backs on small town people. That is essentially what they are doing.
