How is insurance handled at autox events? I assume we're not covered by our policy but can/will insurance companies cancel your policy if you even participate? Are there riders we can purchase? Any info would be great.
Thanks,
Jason

I've been told that insurance is void the minute you autocross or set foot on a racetrack. I used to autocross my 88 Iroc when I was a younger man and never knew this. My agent just told me last week when I showed him the '05 and said how I'd like to run it. He said if you do, your on your own. He said they dont have any insurance for that type of event.

So basically we follow the 'Don't ask Don't tell" policy right? Fine with me, I just don't want my policy cancelled for a silly reason. Guess I'll see what events are coming up in my area.

One thing you have to be careful with autocrossing a car is your warranty. If something goes on the car, you may be out of luck, if autocrossing caused the problem. All depends on each dealer. Some will not cover anythning, some will. I am saying this as Mitsubishi voided warranties to any ownerwho signed up their EVO's in SCCA events. They won't repair the car that was raced, and things break from the run. There was a story a while back, about a guy with an EVO, who needed alot of work done to his car. I believe, and I may be wrong, he trew a rod in his motor, and Mitsu wouldn't repair it, as it was registered in an SCCA event. Just be careful and don't do any damage to the mechanicals of your car.
