Question about www.fordwarrantys.com

I logged onto this site, and it is Ford ESP, but it appears that this is from Lombard Ford. Does this specific site offer the best price on the Ford ESP warranty? Just curious what the people that have purchased extended warranties have discovered in their respective price shopping. Also, I was kicking between the 2 upper tiered plans: Extra Care and Premium Care. It seems to me that the Extra Care is more than adequate, and a better dollar value......but maybe I'm missing something. Any insights on all these questions?

I also checked out the price there and I am also going back and forth with which one to get. I printed the price off of their Web Site and took it too my local Ford Dealer to ask him about the price. He said that they would match the price.

There prices are the best online for a genuine Ford Warranty, i would go with the premium plan with the zero deductible, they also offer a discount on top of the listed prices somewhere in the neighborhood of 180, cant beat 1400 for a 5 year 100000 warranty with ZERO deductible for my 2007 Mustang GT/CS

WOW, you put that many miles on a car in 5 years (or close to it)? I'm still looking at the extra care pkg. over the premium care, since most of the items are mirror coverage (at least the biggies). I've had my car since Nov. '04 (2 years + 2 months) and have 17,800 to date. Now there have been an accumulative total of about 2 weeks in the shop, but I still average 10,000 miles per year tops, so I will be shopping the 6-year 60,000 or the 7 year 75,000 with the 7-year probably being the one I opt for. BTW, how did you choose the 5-year as the magic number for yourself, since it's only adding 2 more and leaving 2 years on the table? I don't think you can go back and purchase those 2 years at the end of the 5 without paying for the whole shebang again.

The mustang isnt my daily driver yet, but when i hand down my focus to my 16 year old, it will and i usually drive about 17k+ a year. ( Calif has alot of Roads! ) and a long drive to work doesnt help either. It was either 5 years or 6, but your right i may end up going with the 6 year 100000 to be safe.

You can by an extended warranty at any time until the original mile/year warranty expires. So I`d wait, see how many times your car go`s in for service and go from their.

That's true, and the only thing you risk by waiting is that the price of the warranty goes up. I doubt it would be leaps and bounds if at all, but inflation usually affects everything........

I did the Lombard Ford thing and don't regret it. Call the girl who is listed. When I did she knocked another $100 off.

Question. Should the negotiated position be the price quoted from the website? ie; be quite until the dealer says what his price is. If his price is lower than the website, thats the one. If not, tell dealer to either match the website price or buy it directly from the site?

Make sure you check what the deductible / co-pay is for both plans.

And, make sure you understand that ESP is NOT a warranty. It is a service plan. There are key legal differences between the original warranty (3yr /36K) that comes with your Ford and an extended service plan which most people mistakenly call an extended warranty. That's why Ford calls it ESP - Extended Service Plan and not EWP - Extended Warranty Plan.

I doubt any warranty is modification friendly. You alter it, its yours.

For my '06 Civic the 8yr/120,000/$0 deductible Hondacare bumper to bumper was only $870.

$1400 seems pretty high for a car that starts out with 5/60 powertrain warranty.

Search on other websites for the best price. Then, go to your dealership with that info. They will more than likely match it, or come close (some of the sites actually sell at cost or below, so your dealership may not match that)

All I can say is that searching the internet may give nice rewards. Also, I always go with PremiumCare, as it pretty much covers everything.

Outlander, warranty costs take a lot of factors into account. Keep in mind the price difference b/w the civic and the mustang, and the reliability differences (The civic is a cheaper car price-wise, and Hondas are much more reliable; so, the price is less because the car probably costs less to repair, and the liklihood of needing repair is low)......Just think of it as auto insurance (cheaper cars that cost less to repair are cheaper to insure, and the insurance company makes their money off of other people that may not "need" their insurance)

Just about any Honda is in that price range so MSRP isn't a factor, it's based on reliability. $1400 is still an awful lot for coverage where there is already powertrain overlap.

The powertrain overlap that you refer to doesn't affect all 'Stangs..... Mine is an '05 GT, and my powertrain is the same as the 3yr. 36,000.

Not sure exactly what to search for. Can you recommend some sites? and are these accepted by Ford. Not too sure how that works. Are there dealers out there that sell ESP's? Who are these websites?

I would just recommend googling ford warranties. Most of the time, it is the dealers that are selling them anyway.

They were quoting me pretty close to $1400 for my '06 with the 5/60.
