Thumbs up

While taking off in your 5 speed manual car, does it seem sometimes like the car wants to hesitate? Like almost like it has no power at all?

For instance, I take off sometimes...just a normal take off, not bogging it down or anything...then punch the gas, 2-3 seconds after I've got going...it seems to bog down for second (TC doesn't kick in)...then after it seems like you have no power at all, it starts accelerating like a raped ape spinning all the way through 1st?

I've driven 5speed Mustangs for 10 years...do you think it maybe is the traction control pre-empting the application of throttle or is it like this drive-by-wire system on the 05's?

-Thanks for any input.

Someone posted similar question earlier this week. Don't think anyone mentioned any cause/solution yet. For me, I thought it was because I haven't driven a manual for over 15 years and was still try to get used to it again.

Come to think of it, i've noticed something like that every once in a while in my 05. I haven't payed close enough attention to conditions when I have noticed it. Would love to hear any input or theories for others experiencing this. It doesn't bother me too much as i've rarely noticed it and I don't race or anything, but would like to know if this is in our imagination.

This has happened to me twice in the last week. Both times it was when I shifted into second gear. The engine lost power for a second, then kicked in. I was getting on it pretty good, but know for sure I didn't hit the rev limiter.

Mine did that for the first time last week. Odd thing was is I stopped about 1/4 mile away down the road and it smelt like I burnt the clutch. I know for a fact my foot was not on the clutch but during launch it felt as if the clutch was in half way. I had the gas pedal to the floor but it bogged and then finally took off again. I have over 10,000 miles on my car and this is the first time this happened.

The only time it has happened to me was I hit the limiter. Suprised me the first time, I didn't think I got to 6K that fast! So I tried later on, watching the tach this time, sure enough, 6K shutoff. Came back a second or so later. No other hesitations like that though.
