sorry if this is a repeat post but have not seen it mentioned so had to ask. Why do the newer pics show that the lower grille on the fascia is now filled with a black plastic insert as opposed to the older pics and pics in the order guide and promotional pics that show body color painted spreaders and no black inserts? will there be some sort of option as to which way you would like as i would like the colored(as i would like colored mirrors of course) also wondering why they may have chosen to change this small feature?

To control airflow and reduce drag.

I'm sure you will be able to take that black insert out, and you will have the body-colored bars there. But, like Kevin said, Ford put it there to control airflow, so might just be better to leave it. When I get my car, I'll take it off and see how it looks. If it really looks a lot better, I might take it out. Gotta way my options at that point.

The insert is not black enough for my taste. It has this cheapy-plastic-black color... the two "closed" inserts just look odd

You will end up shoving a lot more air into the flat face of the radiator instead of the curved lower bumper.

It actually looks pretty good in person, it compliments the upper grille

Surely there is a way to cut out the airflow restricter from the black insert and mount it from the inside.

Case and point (this is EXACTLY what you'll see on the production version - even with the same holes filled in):

I'm not a car expert myself. What - if any - drawbacks to performance would there be if the fascia insert were removed? Would it have a serious or negligible impact? I ask since I think it looks better without the insert.

Thanks,
