Put in my order, now I have some questions

Hey guys, I just put in order for my Black GT (with Red Leather interior), priority 10, expected fulfilment date being the end of april. So my question is the dealer told me I wouldn't get much off with an X-Plan, like only $500. My MSRP is 30,100, and invoice around 28500, is this correct?

Also, I've never driven stick (with the exception of yesterday, the guy who runs the dealership I bought from took me out for some lessons), I stalled 3 out of 4 times trying to start the ****ed thing, then stalled again when I was trying to brake to a stop. How can I learn on a stick before my car comes to me? Are there manual GTs for rent?

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to wasting some of you on the road...just as soon as I learn howto drive my baby.

$500, doesn't seem right. I'm saving close to $2,000-$2,300 with xplan. My total before taxes is about $28,100. As for the stick, I'd find a friend or a relative w/ a beater (oldie civic or VW) w/ one and get a some practice that way.

....or watch this handy video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yltpQBu9Mn4&NR

He is right, it's only 500 or so off of dealer invoice which is about 2-3000 from MSRP. If you've placed your order already he should have what you will pay except for tax and licensing.

As far as learning stick, rent a manual somewhere if you can you've got 8-weeks to beat a rental before you get your Mustang. Find an empty parking lot and have at it til you got it.

X-plan is usually a couple of hundred dollars below dealer invoice. Didn't they give you a copy of the order? It lists all of the prices...invoice, x-plan, a-plan, msrp, etc. I ordered mine last month and I want to say it was about $300 below invoice, but almost $3k below MSRP.

X-plan pricing on a new GT Premium is about $2000 below sticker. There will be incentives when you take delivery I'm sure at least $500 and most likely $1000.

When launching, get the revs up to 1500-2000 and slowly let out the clutch. When shifting, whenever you disengage the clutch, let off the gas and when you reengage the clutch, come back on the gas. Practice makes perfect.

There is a formula to figure the Xplan out, I think it is 1.6% below dealer invoice. There are salesmen on the forum so make sure you ask them if you don't trust you saleman.
As far at the stick, you can rent one or you could just be the bigest test driver in the history of your area and go from lot to lot and test drive any stick you see....lol
Learing aint hard just do it before you get you car so you don't beat on your ride!
ENJOY THE MUSTANG!

Quoted right from Ford's AXZ plan website:

X-Plan

Pre-determined price based on dealer invoice or A-Plan price depending on brand.
The X-Plan price is noted on the dealer invoice (except for
Land Rover and Jaguar)

Ford/Mercury

Invoice minus 0.4% of Invoice + $75 Administration Fee

Lincoln

Invoice plus 0.6% premium + $75 Administration Fee

Volvo

A-Plan + 2% of A-Plan

Land Rover

Invoice plus 4% of Invoice (excluding Regional Advertising Group fee and destination & delivery fee).

Jaguar

Invoice plus 4% of Invoice (excluding Advertising Association Fee and destination & delivery fee).

Vagrant Zero,

One thing that helped me when I first learned to drive a stick was to fight the urge to let off the gas when you feel it start to stall out. When you are practicing, give it some steady gas (1000-2000 rpm) and slowly let the clutch out...if you feel the car start to buck or feel like it's going to stall give it a little more gas and you'll feel it kick in. Find a stick and take an afternoon to get used to it. It doesn't take long to get the hang of it. Good luck, and congrats on the new Mustang.

First off I'd like to thank everyone for the responses, I've got a coworker who's willing to let me f up his honda to learn stick, so that should be fun.

As for my car it came out to 28,109.23 dealer invoice; 30,105 MSRP. I have the option of a $1000 rebate or 4.9 financing. I figure I'll take the rebate since my folks have perfect credit and they'll be cosigning (I have perfect credit as well, it's just not really established, first time buyer and all that). So that X-Plan price makes it 27,059.86. As for price my salesmen really didn't discuss what I'd be paying for the car so I'm not really sure which price I'll be paying. Regardless, I probably should get an x-plan pin because I can use both it and the rebate right? That would knock my final price down to 26,059.86 then wouldn't it.

Your math isn't adding up. X-plan price is 0.4% of invoice + $75. So, if invoice is 28109.23, then X-plan price would be $27,996.83 + $75 = 28071.83. Then apply any rebates or financing incentives on top of that, but also sales tax and any added warranty. Depending on their credit, you could have a monthy payment of 500-600 dollars for a 60-72 month loan.
