I think the fact that people are paying $200,000 for the "new" (read 1967 G.T.500 E) Eleanor clones vs. the market price of an "old" (read '73 Mach 1) Eleanor clones lends itself to the fact that there are several people out there who love the styling of the '67, and I agree. From a style and performance standpoint, the '67 used in the movie is superior to the '73 Mach 1. That's why they didn't use a '73 in the remake. As far as how good the movie was, I think that if you compare the movies side-by-side without the chase scenes, the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds beats the crap out of Bullitt.

Just something about when he jumped Eleanor over the traffic on the bridge made me cringe. No one should be that rough on a classic, lol

I dont mind if someone doesnt like my car at all. Theres always someone
Besides with the amount of attention that i was getting, it was insane, and the amount of people who knew about the car was just as insane. And the funny thing was i couldnt have paid for a better spot. First car, right next to the SVT trailer! Right near the SuperStallion and Comp Orange Cobra.

As for the movie Gone in 60 seconds. The chase scene was cool, if not a little too computerized. The jump was fake, and they only staged the landing on a full suspension car, and it was only from like a jump a few feet off the ground. Watch the making its pretty funny. Like 10 different variations of Eleanor for the movie.

Whew...I would hate to think they'd do that stunt in real life. Thank god for computer animation/rendering,lol!!!

A few things; B)

First, people seem to forget the GT500e is available at around 80K and goes up to around 200K. If I had the cash to blow I would consider the 80K version but it would be a showcar only as it doesn't have the kind of performance as a Viper at that pricepoint. I also would be worried about some of the stories coming out about the car's paint and build quality being as bad as the Shelby series one car.

Secondly, the remake of G60S is a good popcorn film, but there was no way it would have compared, and satisified fans, with Halicki's chase scene just based on the fact that a Hollywood studio would never get away with that kind of project on real streets today. Most of the remake's chase was obviously filmed on a studio backlot.

I believe that for the majority of movies IMDB scores only have a significant meaning if they are below 3 (bad movie) or over 7 (good movie). Every score in between is going to have a complete difference of opinion regarding what everyone's own taste for film is. Look at the first G60S on the IMDB. Only 700 people voted it to a 6.1! Now compare that to the 5.7 that almost 21,000 people voted for the remake, most likely a modern Fast and Furious audience.

If you want to know my "opinion" I had fun watching the remake but like the original a lot more. Both films have two different narrative themes that surround the main character's involvement with Eleanor and I like both of them. I see a lot more to these movies than just car films.

In the first G60S the yellow Mustang is a source of simple irony, as it is constantly seen by the characters all over town, but they can't get away with stealing it. In one seen we see the garage full of all the exotic, collectible, and impossible to get cars all lined up, but they just can't get an everyday run of the mill Mustang! "So close, yet so far away."

In the remake, Nick Cage says that stealing cars makes him feel instantly better about being himself and that he would boost them and go to Palm Springs. To this character stealing cars is associated with his freedom in life. This is where Eleanor's symbolism and irony in this film comes in. Eleanor represents Nick Cage's lack of freedom as everytime he attempts to steal the car something bad goes wrong and he is not free. Even after he gets away from the cops after the extended bridge jump scene he is still not free because the villians take him captive.

Last one!
ThatSN95 rear is so much better looking than the S197. I think thats the main complaint people have w/ the 05's. Hopefully, it will just take getting used to.

First of all, you did a great job on your car...congratulations.

Dissecting what I like about Eleanor (and there are a few things); here's what I'd like to transfer to the '05:

- the dark gray (graphite) color IMHO would look amazing on the '05 - better than the mineral gray by a huge margin...

- the Eleanor wheels would also look great on the '05 - especially with the above-noted graphite body color...

- some kind of rear-quarter scoop or louvers are needed on the '05...

All of the above would make nice upgrades to the '05 GT.

Only complaints I have:

1) the stripe. Could be wider and less room between each of them.

2) the front. In my opinion, it looks too, I hate to say it, so I wont, asian-like. I didn't say ricer! oops... I did say it...

3) the hood. I'd actually like to see a dual hood scoop. That would make it look that much nicer.

Also, where'd you get those rims?

Well then don't challenge my opinion, especially if your only defense is "Its my opinion"

This thread really has nothing to do with the 05 either...
Then why do you even come to this board, other than of course, to start fights with people?
