Ford confirmed my order of an '05 GT 130A (Deluxe with cloth interior) and spoiler delete back on 6/11/04. Now I see people that ordered cars after me have VINs and/or production/delivery dates. My car was the first order placed from this dealer but a red V6 ordered for stock will be the first delivered - scheduled for 10/23/04. I'm told that because I didn't order a Premium 140A and I don't want a spoiler I will have to wait. Ford wants cars with leather and a spoiler to be seen first.

Is this true?

Not real sure, but we're building them every which way, including exports, except V6 manuals. Sounds like your dealer may want you to buy one of his stock Premiums. Shop around, IMHO.

When I got the order confirmation in June I noticed the priority code was 12. I asked the dealership owner what that meant. He said that was good. When I asked the same question again a couple weeks later I was told they changed the code to 10. The sales manager says he ordered the car as 10 but the 'system' changed it to 12. I suspect this is what delayed my car.

Ford doesn't change the priority codes. You got a 12 and I'll bet your dealer put his stock inventory orders at a 10 and 11. They probably wanted to get the stock units to show first. If this is the case, you are actually not the first one ordered, theirs is.

I had ordered my Satin Silver Mustang GT 130A package (spoiler delete) in the middle of May and the dealer confirmed a 10/11/2004 build date at the factory. The ship date of the car is supposed to be 7 - 10 days after the build date. The dealer said this would be the first one on his lot even before they got there stock. The dealer told me they had orderd 9 Gt's for stock.

Talked to Ford Customer Service today. They took all the details but say there is nothing they can do. The factory is in control. They wouldn't even give me a name and phone number to call.

The salesman at the dealer ship stated " the ford factory is picking the Mustangs they want to build first at the factory and they have their own production schedule."

Since this will be the first car they get I hope the dealer does not decide to go joy riding in my new car. I will be really up set because I waited since 2002 for this model. (Paranoid)

I ordered a black 130A spoiler delete and it had a build date of 9/28 but that got bumped to 10/1 so don't be suprised if it takes a few more days than expected.

IMO, the dealer is in control in this case, not the factory. Looks like he ordered yours after his 2 stock ones. I wouldn't think you'd have to wait much more than a week for yours to come in after the first two. But, a week is like a year this far into the game.

If it was in-transit, shouldn't you have received it already...?

Considering 6 different dealers told me only 2 demos are coming in per dealer this October (are they ALL lying? (would not be a surprise as sarcastic as I sound there)), why don't all you preorders from May or June have cars yet if you were told you would?

That sounds like to me, I could be wrong, but Ford would be stupid to do that

We have had plausible reports that there are delays for certain models and options because of supply issues. That may be what the dealer is trying to communicate.

That sounds more plausible"That sounds like to me, I could be wrong, but Ford would be stupid to do that" than the dealer just picking and choosing what cars get produced first. Certain materials to the factory might have been held up in the supply chain to slow production of certain configurations.

A supply problem would put a hold on that job. My car has been clean and buildable since June.

For the last two months I have posted on the status of my car (from DORA to present) . I have always given only "Hard" info backed up by scanned status reports from FOMOCO. You of course can believe what you want....but your theory about the two "Demos" to each dealer just dosen't hold orange juice. Regards the "In transit", since the cars were just released(Some maybe not all built) just a few days ago it will take one /two weeks , maybe more for delivery. From past experience, cars in my area go by rail to Buffalo,NY, then by truck to Rochester, NY where my dealer is.
