Welll, I've been reading the forums for quite a while now and thought it's time to finally post.
First off, thanks tons Brad, the information flow has been awesome and continues to be to this day. I must say, I believe it was the sight of our babes on that line that provoked my post. What a sight.

I've gotten different stories from different dealers. My local dealer has my name and promises to call me the moment the cars come off the truck. I'm going to be targeting a car from dealer stock as opposed to ordering. We'll see how that goes.

A couple of not so local dealers have flat out refused to evaluate my trade because they just don't know when they're getting product. Local dealer however states that they feel confident for the end of September. I prefer to listen to them for obvious reasons.

Has there been any scuttlebutt regarding when they'll start loading cars on the trains/trucks for delivery? Have any left the plant yet? I know I saw a post about that big meeting they'll have before the cars are allowed to leave. Has that meeting happened yet?

Great pics! But as many have stated, this is a pre-production car. The lower-insert without the honeycomb confirms it.

Still nice to see some car assembly line pics!

As steve said, I can't wait to see some final trim/finish pics of cars exiting the plant.

There was an article that said AAI was unique for a FoMoCo assembly plant in that the doors were removed to run down the line and then put back on at the end of the line.

Ford started doing that with 1991 Escort because it shared so much with Mazda. Its a Mazda idea and it true that it is easier for the people working on the main body to get inside to do things and easier for example to put the instrument panel into the car. For the doors its easier to put the glass and all of its parts into the door without having to fight over the same space as somebody working inside the car. With the not adjust car build in place since the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII and the 1994 Mustang the doors don't have a problem fitting back onto the car near the end of the line.

 

I just noticed that, too. That's lame. And looks like it's quite cheap plastic. Couldn't they make the whole insert darker.

Its not fire-retardant. Its only to protect the paint on the hood


Anyone notice the 'hole' in the hood changed shape?

And its definately not a convertible, you can see the roof and c-pillar shape in the pic.

Just a theory, but maybe they needed to strenghten that area, it would explain why they deleted the chrome cover on the engine, the space needed is gone...

Why the cutout under the hood? Is the shaker going to be available in the Spring? I love the GT, but without the concept hood cutouts or shaker, the look is incomplete for my taste.

 

I'm betting that IS a convertible. If you look at the pictures closely, there is no roof. Looking up through the vehicle from ground level you can see the assembly line.

The last picture being shot from the left rear quarter looking up into the door .... there is no roof line to obscure your view of the actual assembly line pieces.
