I got to spend some time with a black GT, car 51, yesterday. Checked it out pretty close. Engine to trunk. Even drove it out of plant.
Any questions, feel free to ask.

uh..don't know where to begin..
GIVE US YOUR INTERPRETATION

Out of plant ...I would assume they are production proto's...from AAI?

Handbuilt or machine built at AAI getting ready for full swing????
-Compared to the 'handbuilt proto's' whats different?
Like the dimples in the bumpers? shifter? Engine cover? Door sill plates?
-How does it sound/feel?
-Fit/finish etc

Basically, I'd like to know everything you have time to type on the car

Machine built AAI, no engine cover but looks fine. Do not think there is an inch left under the hood for cover, but rest of engine compartment is nicely laid out. Intake air is right behind drivers side headlight fender area. Some room for improvement there. (Gear heads) and yes as noted before there is what appears to be a cut out design for future hood scoop.
Fit and finish is really good. We do most of the sheet metal and Ford is making quality a must.
The engine is sweet and sounds good to. I think most will be happy with stock exhaust, although I like to shake the walls with big blocks.
What more can be said about exterior, it is awesome. Don't care so much for the large brights IMO.
The interior did bother me a bit. Fit and finish is good and ergos all right but the center console and parking brake just are not right along with some small things. All will be over looked once a customed to.

My thoughts exactly. I want a black coupe really really really bad, but all I've seen are photochops.

Thanks a lot Distortion! Very cool....
How many are you guys pumping out on a daily basis?
If you guys don't have the intake cover, I think that will be nixed...as you guys are building to production specs right?

Is there a MUSTANG silver kickplate on the door...or is that officially gone too? Not a big deal, but it looked pretty good on the pre-protos.

How giddy are you guys being able to see them and touch them..and do naughty things to them...oh wait..did I say that outloud

Any word on the availbility of the 18" rims?

Also, any 'hints' at future special editions?

I am at a Ford stamping plant that makes hoods and about 20 other sheet metal parts. The one that was here is gone now. AAI is just working out the assembly now, not cranking out any volume. Everything is a long process. This car began like two years ago and driven over a year ago, so when people talk about seeing verts and cobras now around Dearborn, it is no surprise.
I don't recall the silver kickplate. Also, it had the red seats and accents in the car. I actually did not care for it IMO.
Ya, we still have the bare sheet metal car that was posted a few weeks ago and i get my daily fix with that.

Nice...
Yeah I know a certain other person who was working on stuff for the 05, and he mentioned that they are tooling up for the full shabang..
Carefully making sure everything is in proper working order, and working out any bugs ahead of time. I know Ford is taking its time with this launch, and wants everything to be perfect....

I'm not crazy about the red...in a blue car anyway. I'm looking for the black interior...or even the dark charcoal. (if its available)

Has anything inside changed (that you can tell from all the newer pics floating around) ?...

(Also, is this the final production model? or close to it?)

Boomer, your confident enough in your manhood to have a blue car with red interior aren't you? LOL.

Are you sure they won't be offering a blue interior?

But black/WB and even beige/WB (because WB is a light colour) would look good.

Not a huge deal. Just wait till you see it up close or a pick of a WB with either colour and make a call. I want to see this red interior up close personally. Usually I lean towards black but the red is sweet and contrasts well with the back and aluminum dash.

Ef that...
No way I'd get blue/red....
I don't even know about the blue interior.

Tan..nah..not my style
Light gray 2tone...what I have now...meh..want something darker.
Dark Charcoal or black is the way I'm going.
Honestly...I may not even get leather either.
Cloth is fine by me

I don't think any red/blue combo will look that great but I could be wrong.
