I ordered my '05 Stang on 9/22. The order sheet shows a priority of 99...I figure this is not a good thing and I read someones post that said a priority 99 would not be made. :bang: Is this true? If so, how can I get it changed? Forgive my ignorance on the subject but I've never counted minutes going by waiting for a car before Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Go back to the dealer and ask them to lower your priority to 10. If they don't cancel it and go some where else.

Mine was at 99 but i introduced my car salesman to 'Mr. Washington' ....that bumped it up a lil.

no but seriously that blows...a lot of dealerships are screwing people over...its not right...but theres always another dealership who would gladly take your business

99 will not get built. Get them to lower it, or cancel your order.

What would a dealer have to lose by lowering itto a 10?

Nothing. Chances are they just want to sit on his deposit without having to deliver anything ..

I called ahead of time, Tuesday of this week, and made an appointment with a local dealer to order my 05 GT. Not only did I get it at MSRP with a priority of 10, but when I passed him the deposit check for $500, that I had already made out, he said "don't worry about it, we don't need to take a deposit" !

I said "OK great, talk to you soon" and left! Got a call yesterday from him telling me I should have a Vin number by Monday!

I think I made a good choice in Dealer selection!

You know, because you didn't leave a deposit you don't have a binding contract, so he can sell it out from under you.

I highly doubt he will do this! We hung out for awhile and seemed to be a stand up guy. He also happens to be their Fleet Manager, if that means anything at all.

Bingo.
Yes, a 99 will never get built. If you are intending on getting a Mustang you might want to have a better agreement with your dealer.

Are you guys serious? Do you think I would get worked over like that? If so, I guess I'll go back and insist that they take my deposit, but I don't want to come off sounding pugilistic.

Fudge, now I'm all worried!

I asked if I should put a 500 dollar deposit down and they stated no that we'd take care of all of that later...don't understand why they wouldn't want to sell a car...maybe they just screwed up...we'll find out on Monday.

they problably made it a 99 hoping that it would never get built, and that one of thier stock orders (which they can sell above msrp) or a more preffered customers order gets built. If they did it to get another stock order, maybe they will figure that once you see it come in, youll jump on it for msrp or more.

When the dealers put in a tentative order (like a price quote), it comes out as a 99 for the priority, it just means that it is not a real order. Once they actually sumbit the order then you will get a 10 for the priority which means it is a real order. Just ask for a print out of the actual submitted order, they probably just gave you a print out of the price quote instead.

Ya know come to think of it he printed out that order and then asked me if that was exactly what I wanted, I said yes and then he did a few other things on the computer...so maybe he did a priority 99 and then changed it after I agreed that that was exactly what I wanted...but better safe than sorry, I'll make sure tomorrow.

Jason

By the way, thanks to all of those who have answered my questions, it has been very helpful. I'm used to just going to the lot and finding a car...but the 05 Stang is just to awesome to do that.
