My dealer told me I had Priority 10 for delivery since both my mom and I ordered 05 Mustang GT's. He said priority 10 ment faster delivery, is the dealer full of hot air or is there such thing as priority 10 delivery? I'm thinking the dealer is full of sh*t, but who knowns. Thanks Kevin

Yes ! Dealer priority codes run from 10 to 99. Ten being the fastest. 99 code is like telling Ford build it when ever you get a chance, and that can be a long way off. With a ten, you should have a vin # in a week or two.

the priority numbers are used for a dealership to submit orders into the order bank. when ford looks in the order bank for cars to pull for production, they start at the lowest priority (usually 10) and work their way up. so in a sense you can call it a priority number for faster delivery, because the order will be pulled faster by ford. But once the order is pulled by ford, the priority means nothing.

I ordered a GT on Oct. 7 with a priority 10. It was submitted that night but I don't have a VIN yet. They claim I am the first GT for the dealership, there were a couple of V6s before me, but I'm still waiting...

ace0215....

Can you be a little more specific on what the order will be pulled by Ford means? Does that mean getting a VIN number? I ordered my 05 Stang in Sept. and still do not have a VIN number. Last I know it was unscheduled/clean. I talked to the owner of the dealership about the priority and he will not move the priority to a 10, it is a 25 .

What do you think I should do?....

SilverGT,

Yes, you will not get a vin until after the order is pulled by Ford. And like i said in the previous post, ford pulls order with the lowest priority within the dealership. So with you being a 25 priority, any orders by your dealer that are submitted with a priority less than 25 will get pulled before yours even though the order was placed after yours.

BTW silver GT...

I was a priority 15, and didn't have much trouble getting pulled, but at 25...it might take a bit longer...try and find out from your dealer how many cars they order/are allocated and try and get them to make sure ford will pull your order soon, or possibly go to another dealer.

The priority scale runs from 10 to 85. 10 is the highest priority. Usually dealers group them into priority batches, not necessarilly in exact numerical order. Some cars, like rep demos on newer models get stuck immediately on 85 status. The idea is to be able to control your inventory and the order it is made. Most retail orders get priority 10 status. With the stangs bein scarce right now, something like a car I may wish to buy would probably get a 15 priority, with the ability to order definate secure orders under the one I am interested in, but it will still be here relatively quickly. How long it takes simply depends on how many higher priority orders there are under a given order(other then 10's of course). But if a priority 10 car goes on material hold, typically a 15 ready-to-go at the plant will be built first. When you order a car, if there is a known material hold it will show up in concepts, dealers will usually bump it a couple points to make sure it does not hold up anything.

Thanks for the info. They told me they had one more allocation for a Mustang in Sept. and mine has been allocated. If I have the only Mustang on order from the Dealer and my priority is a 25, then Ford will pull mine as if it was a 10, right?

They will pull the priority 25 if that is the only one from your dealer sitting in the order bank when they have an allocation

Just checked my order and I have Priority 10 as well. Talked to my Sales Manager today. He said I am scheduled to build and should have a VIN by end of week. Ordered 10/20. Maybe he was right in saying I could have it by the end of Nov. I am not counting on it because my last two vehicles took 5 1/2 months from order date to delivery!!

Once the order is placed at priority 10 and accepted by Ford, it is totally up to Ford as to the build time of the vehicle. We've had a few get leap frogged by other vehicles ordered months later, a few are still due in that were ordered even before the price list was released.

I ordered my car (05 Mustang GT Premium) on 10/20, dealer submitted the order the next day. I talked to the dealer this afternoon and he told me that my order was a priority 20, but that doesn't matter at this point as they already have my VIN number, and that the order has been submitted to plant and they have a build date.
I believe that the date the order was submitted was 10/27 and the build date is around 11/1, but I'll confirm that tomorrow when I meet with the dealer and pick up the paperwork on my order.

The sales person told me to call them in 3 weeks if I haven't heard from them, so i'm guessing 3 weeks or so but i'm not sure.

Well, cool, I have a priority 10. Will have to call my dealer regularly to find out if I have a VIN.
