Price Paid

I paid $27k for my 2005 Mustang V6.
Why did I pay so much?
1. Markup. $4995. I told them I wouldn't pay it, they said fine and they were ready to escort me to the door. The best I could do was get it down to $2000. They had a single GT coupe, in white (which I hate) and they had a $9995 markup, which they were telling another guy was "non-negotiable". That car was about $39k.
2. Instant Gratification - The car I wanted was there, on the lot, the day I wanted it. I didn't have to wait three months for it and make the ordering process part of my signature. I woke up that morning deciding to buy a car, and I went to bed that night with a new car in my driveway.
3. I'm in the bay area in California, and there are 4 dealers within a reasonable driving distance from me. Their inventories were typically: 2 stripped down V6 coupes (no traction control, no leather, base radio, no IUP, nothing); 12 V6 convertibles (base models), a couple of GT convertibles. When I got my car, it was the only Ford dealer within 25 miles of my house selling a V6 that was loaded.
4. I don't *need* a V8. I really don't. I don't need the extra gas costs nor the extra insurance hassles. I also don't need the extra "attention" that those GT logos attract. Heck, I got egged five days into ownership already, I don't need worse things happening. I'm also not a street racer and I don't need to do 0-60 in 5 seconds or whatever.
I was going to try to hold out for the 2006's but after seeing how poor the selection was at the local dealers I figured I should just take a loaded 2005 now rather than have to wait for a dealer to have a loaded 2006.

If I shave off my extra options at MSRP, you got yours for a few hundred less than me. No special plans for me - I just went Internet sales.

23,155 after NJ sales tax and DMV prices.
As for an answer to if you paid a good price? Do you think you paid too much? If no then your price is great. Theres always someone who gets a better deal but as long as your happy with what you did and got it for who cares.
Also where are the pics? Did you post some already and I missed them?

Long Lewis in Hoover, AL was selling a convert. pony package below the 28k MSRP and a coupe pony package for under 22k MSRP as of this past Saturday. Wonder how much I would get for a trade in....if I worked extra hard maybe I could pull it off?
I can dream, right? haha

We just purchased our 2nd mustang on Saturday from Town and Country Ford in Charlotte, NC.
V-6 Premium Convertible
Screaming Yellow / Dark Charcoal
IUP (wifey likes the color change gizmo)
Exterior Sport Package (got to have the rear spoiler)
Automatic (for beach cruising)
Shaker 500 (which is what I should have gotten on my GT)
Convertible Soft Cover ($115 but it's just a padded cover)
150,000 mile "Maxlife" extended warranty (don't know about this..came with the car from this dealer)
MSRP $28,745.00
BS Stuff $980 (undercoating and scotchguard)
Tax/tag/title $1239.00
Total = $30,984.00
We made them an offer and wrote them a check for $27,000 *exactly* ....even threw in a tank of gas (which is getting to be expensive)...and they did all the paperwork and car detailing in 45 mins (car was a showroom display so they didn't have much to clean...only had 2.9 miles on it).

That seems like a good price. Kind of sounds like an x-plan price. I got a V6 with no options manual trans. for 18,700. I used x-plan. If you add the price for pony package probably around 1.3k, and leather maybe 1k, to mine that is 21,000. You do the math, I saved 1,100 with x plan so you did very well.
