I had Steeda Sport springs installed on my 05 Mustang. Now, after 2 weeks, I am getting a pop (when metal moves over metal) when I turn the steeting where. I can see and hear exactley where it is coming from:

Location: The front passanger side of the car, the bottom of the spring where it meets the strut.

Issue: When the wheels are turned from side to side, the strut twists as they turn. When this happens, the springs turns with it. During that process, the spring wil kinda hang then 'pop' into place over a 1/16 or 1/32 of an inch. This however, is annoying as heck.

Has anyone ever seen/heard of this of have any solutions to this ?

They shouldn't do that. That one strut probably wasn't installed properly.

If you had a shop do it, bring it back to them.

Sounds like the nut holding the strut bearing is loose. Make sure the spring is seated correctly before they tighten it.

Check and see if they used plastic isolators between the coil and perch. I had this problem before on a different car and it turned out the isolator had moved a bit causing the metal perch to rub against the coil. Or the nut on the top of strut isn't torqued down to spec; try tightening it a bit and see if that cures the problem

I tried the strut tower nut. Tightning it made it worse. When I loosed it back up - it seemed too loosed on the bolt.

It's not to bad... it's actually perfect, nothing wrong... untill I am going really slow, maybe between 1 & 15 miles an hour...
Over small bumps or a driveway pavement difference, it makes a poping sound like it could be coming from the tierod, or shocktower....
I really have no idea what it is....

You tightened the single nut that holds the strut together right? Not the bolts tigthening the assembly to the chassis? I know on my Maxima when I put my Eibachs on the OEM tq setting was 80 ft/lbs. It sounds like the spring isn't seated properly for some reason, which means you are going to have to take it apart. Maybe someone else has a way of solving the problem without removing it, but I can't think of a way right now.

I found the problem:

The springs have a start and stop point. That start and stop point must end and brance against the strut or they spin. Well, they got the drivers side correct, but got the passenger side wrong.

The bottom part of the spring butts up against the strut brace at the bottom. The top must butt up against the top isolaters area. Well, it is 90 degrees off - the exact distance from the 4 bolts/nuts.

The solution is this : if someone installs the lower springs or even removes the struts, make sure the top brace isolaters butts up against the spring. I will have the shop that installed them fix them tomorrow.

BTW, this can happen to any spring if not installed correctly - stock or aftermarket.

Question:

When having Steeda springs installed do you have to have any other aftermarket parts installed for the car to handle properly or are the springs sufficient?

This is happening on mine too, and a friend who has one says the same thing. All stock. Is this a common problem among 05 owners?

If you buy the Sport Springs, it should be that only thing you need - with the exception of an alignment. If you buy other springs, then ou are supposded to buy other parts for the suspenstion. This is all per Steeda.

I doubt it was installed wrong from the factory, but you never know. You can always have it looked at (since it should be under warranty).

My car makes the pops from the driver's side, but not when it is cold?

I have not looked at them yet but I'm sure it is what you say.

Great photos on your web site.
