Pony TriBar Spinner Wheel Cap Install

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. I have an 06' V6 mustang w/ the pony package & 17" wheels. I just purchased the pony tribar spinners and am getting ready to install them. I am wondering if anyone on the forum has installed these before, and has any tips. They did not come w/ any instructions. Thanks in advance for your help.

From what I've seen I think they just snap in. I was all set to order them a while back and I heard a lot of people say they got stolen too easy. Someone even said there dealer ship takes them off the new and used cars and keeps them inside until the cars are sold.

P.S.
Welcome, lots of great info here, but if your a lurker you already know that.

I used the closet door pulls, although I can't remember the specific size, and they work pretty well. You can still pull them off if you really pull hard, but you're almost breaking them by time they do come off. Hope that helps!

I would think any hardware store would have them, like Ace or Home Depot.

I had 1 of mine stolen back when I had my V-6 and before I upgraded to the 17" Bullitts... They are *real* easy to pull off, I wish I would have known about that closet door trick before! Definitely a good find...

Now I am scared to put em on. Some punk kid will try and steal em, or if I do the closet door trick they will break off one of the bars tryin to pry it off.

I don't think you'll have a problem, it's one of those things that if it's easy, they'll do it... You add the *lock* to it and if they try and snag them, they'll probably just give up after they figure out they can't get them. And in the case that they do break one of them trying to get them off, I highly doubt they would go to the other 3 and break them as well... I say enjoy them!

I highly reccomend some kind of lock wether the closet door pulls or what ever. I have had 2 on the rear come off under "ahem" hard acceleration.

Wow, that could be a deadly weapon to have one of them fly off when your rear tires are spinning. That would be a great defense against a car jacker, he points a gun at you and tells you to get out and you hammer the gas and pop the clutch. That would be more amusing than using the H&K!

I have the spinners on my stang ,used inside snap rings and installed them ,so far no loss of the spinners from theft or hard acceleration!

Something else I might mention here.I get a lot of water inside the rear spinners, thinging of trying to find some kind of o-ring or something to keep it dry inside and not rust.

There are inside and outside snap rings ,the one on the far right that is silver in color is a "inside snap ring" .Most auto part stores carry this item but the larger ones are harder to get ,you might try your local catapiller dealer for the size you need ,plus you will need snap ring plyers to remove or install the rings .
It will allow the spinner to still be turned for the installation of the lug nuts on the rim but the spinner will not come out if you get the right size of snap ring.
