Plastic light housing in trunk.

Some how or another the tabs that hold the light in the trunk have broken a the whole thing is just hanging there every time I pop the trunk. I tried looking for a replacement but am coming up with zilch. Has anyone else had this happen? If so short of the junk yard, where did you find it??

I have the same issue! I never slam the trunk, doors, etc so I'm not sure what went wrong.. but it's annoying.

I did a quick search and this is all I came up with..

http://www.tousleyfordparts.com/part...=8&catalogid=2

It looks like it only comes with the whole assembly and is $53 + shipping. Might have to find one in a junkyard and get just the lens.

I had the same problem, put up with it for a long time. Got tired of it and fixed it one day, been awhile but......I remember there being a metal housing holding it in. Pulled the plastic and light all the way out and just bent the metal closer together to hold it better. Has worked so far.

Mine broke a few years ago. I glued the tab back on with JB weld. it is a little loose but it stays in place.

I closed my trunk and the housing hit a suitcase, I heard a thud. Popped the trunk and saw the whole housing hanging from one side. Glued it a couple times and it kept breaking. Then a friend was returning his car to stock so he could trade it in on an 04 cobra. HMMMM I thought, mines not broken anymore

My lamp housing comes loose if I slam the trunk lid a lttile harder than normal, I just pop it back in place. Otherwise, no problems. 2006 coupe

Mine was doing the same so when i was using some 3M tape on the spoiler I cut a little tape and used it on the light lens. Still stuck after 3 years.

I'm getting the feeling that everyone has a problem with the trunk light box in the 05-09 I don't know if they were in there up to 09 I guessed at that.

The part number you'll need is this:

8R3Z-13A656-AA

And it's under $100, but it's the entire panel, not just the light lens, and I'd recommend just doing the whole thing because of the stupid clips and tabs that thing uses to hold itself in.

It's also called the "2005-2009 Mustang Trunk Lamp Assembly" or "Trunk Compartment Lamp Cover"

Otherwise... junkyard.

Hope that helps!

And oh, by the way... Official welcome to the forum!

These posts never get too old and are always applicable. Mine fell loose with just 3,000 miles on the car. Nice Ford quality
I found the dumbest (and cheapest) thing in the world to repair it and it is still holding all these years later. I hope you will know what I am talking about. Here goes: Whenever you get a credit card or AAA card or something similar in the mail it is usually stuck to a piece of paper with a strip of rubbery material. Almost like a too long booger ( well I creeped out my wife anyway with that joke anyway). I applied it all along the edging of the plastic and so far so good. I just hope the bulb doesn't burn out.
