I think there's something about white (my current 99 Mustang is white too).
When you look at the parking lot in a mall, black-silver-greys-blues, it's all one big blur. White, yellow and certain reds stick out beautifully in a sea of dark shades. Plus, streets are black and gray, so white is an excellent contrast on the road.
Not to get all Psychology 101, but white is supposedly picked by organized and well balanced people. I recall reading black is similar in nature to white, but silver is a "cold" person's color and red is for someone who can't make up their mind... I'll track down the official version for you all if I can find it.

Yes, white is good, but I admit that all dirt is visible immediately. In the long run, white never really fades if taken care while all the dark colors show every scratch the car received.

That's why I am getting Mineral Grey.
They didn't paint the F-117A Stealth Fighter and the B2 Stealth Bomber "Hemi Orange".
Nothing wrong with Hemi Orange, and if I had a '68 Mopar B-body, it would be Hemi Orange.
But "stealth" colors have served me well for a good dozen years, it allows me to let it out a little more, and avoid unwanted attention from 'da man.

The choice of colors is so personal that I seldom comment on it, but to me white cars look like refrigerators on wheels.
Add some blue stripes, however, and we're talking about a whole different animal. Maybe because that takes me back to the days of Mustangs racing in the 60's.

Id do white with red leather, and red skunk stripes
It is an off-white, they used performance white on 02 T-birds, it friggin looks GOOOOD with the red interior, that was my favorite t-bird combo too. Its roughly the same as the white on 65 shelby 350's.

I'm definitely considering the white with blue stripes. I prefer the darker blue as seen on the original Shelby pic, however. The brighter blues seem a little more modern, but I am having a hard time deciding whether that is a good or a bad thing. I guess I'm old fashioned. I'll probably wait until I can get an aftermarket hood to do the stripes, though. The style of hood scoop to get is also driving me nuts. I am sure that there will be many available, but old style Shelby or new twin slit like the concept car? I really need to just get several cars. Anyone have experience with those vinyl 3M stripes? Are they worthwhile?

My "ElectraMetal Hi-Fi Blue" vinyl stripes are made by 3M and they are great (as the picture shows). They are metallic, as I figured why get plain colors when some special effect ones are out there.
I would definitely stick with lighter blues like I did, as too much contrast on white (by using a dark blue or basic blue) will get real old REAL fast. I still LOVE my stripes and have had them 3+ years. People still give me thumbs up when they park next to me in traffic.
