PCM and Custom Tune Question

I have a 2.6 Kenne Bell super charger on a 2005 GT. The car is entering "engine failsafe mode" regularly now. I replaced the Throttle Positioning Sensor and thought that would solve it. I did not update the PCM which could be the issue?

Im checking into updating the PCM which costs about $125. Will this erase or cause proplems with my custom tune?

Have you put an OBD computer scanner on it to see what codes are being caught?

I would do that first. it.

Looks like the Throttle actuator or Throttle possession Sensor are bad. Can you read live data on the scanner? Look for the TPS reading to see it it is raising or lowring if not it is probably the actuator. Also on some cars there is a recalibrate procedure for both parts.

Any tuning experts here?

So the only thing I did after making some phone calls to several tuner shops was re-install the custom tune. I drove it for about 50 miles and seems to be running alright. Also, if I would have updated the PCM then my SCT tuner would not recognize my car and the custom tune would be useless rendering the car basically useless according to one of them.

I've been Supercharged for years and this has happened numerous times, and most of the times it has been due to some electrical problem. One time it was a frayed wire on the fan relay and another time the wire to my fuel pump dropped down onto the exhaust and the insulation was melted. I think it's because of the 12v and 5v electrical systems on the car, if you get a voltage drop I believe the computer thinks it's a 5V reference signal and doesn't know what to do with it. Then when the supercharger starts producing boost it shuts the car down. I'm local to Steeda and they do all the work and they say it's not in the tune. Most recently it happened twice on the way into work, and the second time I was paying attention and it was just as the boost started. When I checked I found the clip on the connector to the TB was broken, so it wasn't held on tightly and I think that was the problem this time.

You can have Ford flash the PCM and still use your SCT if you can get them to flash it with the same strategy code as the current PCM version.
