I got the rim back Friday and you would never have known it.

Empty lot parking practice would help. No pressure.

I absolutely HATE parallel parking. Unfortunately, guess what the setup is for the majority of the parking outside of my apartment building? Gotta love it. I don't find the S197 any harder to parallel park than any other car though.

Just a quick question.... Why are you driving in tight traffic in reverse? LOL

J/K

BTW My only issue is backing up at night. The 15% tint makes it very dark and hard to see. Usually put the windows down to be able to see at night.

I've never parallel parked in my S197 Mustang, then again I never had to back into a parking space either. I always look for a parking space that's empty and can pull through for an easy exit. I will say it would probably be a daunting task for me to parallel park the Mustang if I'm ever put in the position of having to do so seeing how the last time I parrellel parked was several years ago and back then I had a little matchbox '99 Hyundai Accent as my daily driver.

I'd rather park out of the way than parallel park. The sound of rims to the curb is like nails on a chalkboard.

Since this car is a retro design to the 60's-70's, what you end up with is 60's technology in the vision area in order to keep the retro styling. Most old muscle cars had horrible blind spots but looked good in the styling department. I first noticed when I bought my GT you have to use the rear spoiler for a backup guide. I don't know how those with the spoiler delete manage to back up.

Yes, I agree, San Francisco is a beautiful place to live. Years ago, I used to live in Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, and Menlo Park.

And I used to drive a manual transmission in S.F. too. What a challenge, but kind of fun. I remember using my emergency brake while hanging on the sides of hills at a red light or behind other cars at a stop sign. Then, easing that sucker off while I revved the engine and eased out the clutch. That was driving.

I'm really cautious parallel parking my Mustang. If I err, I want err on the side of being to far from the curb. It's funny, but I never seem to wind up very far from the curb. Years of practice?

Thanks for reminding me of something I need to remember to think about every time I parallel park.

The only problem (besides parking that is) with SF is that there are too many Democrats in the area...

Parallel parking the S197 Mustang is a breeze; try parallel parking a '60s Mopar with a manual steering box and wide front tires! It's an upper body workout!

I don't know, I never try to look at the curb in the mirror, you can kinda look up quickly at the curb/car in front and tell where the rear wheel is.

I avoid parallel parking at all costs...you risk damage to the front and rear bumper and/or scuffed rims...not worth it...find a parking garage.

I think I am more worried about scratching the car. Haven't had a problem yet by my wife always says that I park too far away from the curb

I live in San Francisco as well and havent had much of a problem. Only when i was going to mf GF house which curb has a turn. We got in a argument and as usual when she makes me mad i tend to drive faster and i parked in the curb kinda fast hitting the curb peeled a piece of the side wall of the tire and a big scratch on the rim

Wasn't parking, but got some rim rash on Tuesday. I found a company, mobilewheelrepair.com that has a service truck franchise that goes around and fixes rim rash. I took the wheel and tire off, took it to the local Firestone (only ones I trust) and they charged me the "patch" fee to take the tire off and let me take the rim to the mobile guy for a couple hours and then put it back on later.

I'll post pictures, but it was impressive. It took me about 3 minutes to hunt down the spot on the rim where it was rashed and I knew it was "opposite the valve stem" so I was looking at about 1/8 of the rim for the rash and it still took me some time to find any evidence.

I know this doesn't help without pics, but I'm on my laptop and I need to use my desktop with my camera. Check back later.
