When I got my new vert it had scratches on the interior and the dealership has ordered three new interior parts to replace the scratched ones. I tried to check it out closely but noticed a couple other problems after I got home. I have a small spot on a door where the paint looks like it ran. There is also a discolored streak on by vert top. When I first looked at my car before it was detailed there was a blue crayon looking mark on my top. The blue is gone but it is slightly discolored still. Anyone else have these problems? Any idea if they can be fixed?

Yeah, I never would have gotten that. I figured it was a transmission problem.

Mass produced cars are going to have some flaws......that's just the way it is.

I would agree, but a run in the paint is a bit un acceptable, even
if it was a Kia, or something similar it wouldn't be acceptable.

Yeah, but that doesn't make it right. It should be fixed by the dealer before delivery, and the dealer should still fix the flaw. If possible, these things should be discovered before delivery is taken, but now I would just try to work with the dealer.

To answer the original questions, this is happening to others, and it can be fixed.

Hmmmm.... I got my 2nd oil change the other day at an independent shop, and the tech that was in the pit doing the change, said that someone had drawn a Blue Heart on my oil pan underneath.

Wet sand it and buff it out man. You can do it. Just make sure you send some pics when you do.

I didn't realize you could wet sand and buff a convertible top.

Especially when they are rushing to fill orders.

If your top has some discoloration, but the blue spot is gone, it is probably due to the type of cleaner they used to remove the blue spot. Take it back and have them fix it correctly.

There are pencil marks around my decklid seal and all sorts of writing on the bottom of my car, I just haven't had it on a lift yet. i plan to take digital photos of them bfore they disappear. The car was built in early Oct with an Aug engine.

I read about these guys doing concourse restorations on classic mustangs and they really go crazy over that kind of stuff...I read one article where the guy in the How-To article (Bob Perkins, I think) was describing the 3 names of the nightshift paint inspectors between such and such dates at the Metuchen plant and how to make their stamps and where to put them in the fenderwell and what color paint to use...talk about obsessed...

I took my car to the dealership yesterday. The marks on my top are some type of glue and they said many verts have had it on them. They said they have nothing to take it off and will have to find out if Ford has a special cleaner or a possilbly a new top. They are going to repaint my door because they said it is not a paint run but it has something under the paint. They stated they will take care of everything when my interior parts come in. This is a headache.

Wow... sounds like a nice dealership. Look on the bright side - at least they didn't jerk you around or anything!
