The production is in high gear with last weeks build at 6,311 units. That's the highest I've seen since production started. Will they hit 190K units? It will be close!

When is job 1 for MY06? I think August or September. So they have at least 10-11 weeks left if not more. Looks like they will hit 190k.

The last day of '05 production is Friday Aug 5th, as I understand it. Job1 for '06 starts Monday Aug 8th.

They can do that when the changes are more colors and nothing major. If they put on a bulliet wheel or a fan blade no big deal except for what case of rims is on the floor. I would predict production at 192,200. We should have a pool!

Whatever the final tally adds up to, Ford has a home run on their hands.

Bah, more like a triple. They could have sold 250,000 if they'd been able to make them.

I have read Ford's goal for 2005 is 190,000. This is pretty good for year ONE of the new body.

As a comparison, they only built 123,198 of the first year SN-95 / 1994, but supposedly built 218,525 in 2000 (figures from www.yellowmustangregistry.com ). From prior FOX years ... 209,769 were built in 1989 and 211,225 in 1988. YMR only goes back to 1987, so I can't compare the first FOX in 1979.

369,936 Mustangs were produced for Model Year 1979 making it the 5th highest year for Mustang production.

If I remember correctly the 1994 Mustang started production late possibly not until November which is why so few 1994s were built.

However the 1994 - 1998 Mustangs were really not all that successful with 686,015 built during its 5year 3 month run (1998 was a long year because the 1999 model was also late).

In comparison there were 924,170 of the 1999 - 2004 Stangs built during their 5 year 5 month production run.

As far as the 2005 #s go, keep in mind the 2005 Model Year will be only 11 months long. Job 1 was around Sept 7 and production will stop August 5.

Thanks V10 ... figured someone here would have more detailed stats than me !!

So was the 1979 productiona ALL Dearborn, or were they still building Mustangs at more than one plant ??

You also gotta figure the NEW Mustang is SHARING the Flat Rock plant, where before it had it's own. The new plant should be much more efficient, but enough so that it can build more Mustangs in a year than Dearborn was capable of ??
