Well, I finally sold the Acura and I've placed my order for my first Mustang. I can't wait, and the forum was down since I placed my order on 1/22, so you guys can imagine what I've been going through.

I am clean and unscheduled as of 1/25, so let the waiting begin.

I ordered a black GT Premium
IUP
ICAP
Active anti-theft alarm
spoiler delete

I have a question on the Shaker 500 speaker placement. I did a search and could not find the answer to my question, so if someone could please post a link the info or answer, it would be much appreciated.

Where are the 8 speakers on this system. Obviously two 8" subs in the doors, two other speakers in the doors, and two in the rear deck. Where are #'s 7 & 8?

As a side note, I will say that the Shaker 500 is just as good, if not better than the Bose system I had in the Acura. It had 6 speakers. The Shaker 500 beats if w/ bass becasue of the subs in the door. The Bose may have had slightly better "highs", but I think that was because of a better speaker location.

each door has an 8" sub down low, with a midrange and tweeter up top.

Yeah so:

1. Driver 8" Sub
2. Passenger 8" Sub
3. Driver 4" Mid (In 5" x 7" Plate)
4. Passenger 4" Mid (In 5" x 7" Plate)
5. Driver Tweeter (In 5" x 7" Plate)
6. Passenger Tweeter (In 5" x 7" Plate)
7. Left Rear 5" x 7"
8. Right Rear 5" x 7"

I think that the front component 5" x 7"'s are pretty cool. If you ever wanted to replace them, there are several companies like Boston Acoustics that actually sells the exact type of speaker. Anyways, hope this answers your question totally. Later.

Thanks guys, that clears it up! Now if anyone has any advice on how to deal with the waiting............jk

Also, thanks Brad and everybody else on this site, this is by far the best source of Mustang information anywhere!

PS, I didn't post earlier, but I was able to get X-plan on my order. MSRP was 27,285, my price = 25,245.05 plus tax, title, reg. = 27,144.70.

Is there a way you can check on the order status of your car, or do
you have to go through your dealer?

Dealer is the best source of info. They will have the most detailed data.

Yeah, I was afraid of that, I was just hoping there was a web site
I could go to and check for my self rather that having to bother
the dealer every other day.

If I'm not mistaken, the dealer gets there updates once a week, late on Thursday, so Friday would be the best day to contact them. You can call the Ford Custmer service number once you have a VIN assigned and they can sometimes give you a little better info. You are probably in for at least an 8 week wait, and possibly longer with the IUP option on order. Keeping up to date on the TMS is the best way to reduce the waiting stress.m X-plan is wonderful!

Congrats on the X-Plan. I've talked with 4 different dealers who all have told me "Ford is not allowing them to offer X-Plan", which I think is BS. When I tell them the Plan partner site language does not exclude the Mustang, they don't have any comment. Anyone know any dealers in Texas honoring XPlan?

Yeah I was at the first dealers desk ready to put in my order, when I asked
about X-Plan, he said they were not honoring X-Plans on 2005 mustang Gt's.
I said fine I will go somewhere else, his response was that I wouldn't find
anyone who would give me X-Plan on this car. He was wrong!

If you are referring to the rear speakers given: 1&2 F. Tweeters, 3&4 F. Mid-range, 5&6 F. Sub woofers/Sub bass drivers, 7&8 R. Mid-range/Mid-bass.

Then they are considered mid-range or mid bass given the 5x7 size. They also are higher range speakers as well but the lowest common denominator qualifies the speaker as a mid-range.

For the Shaker 1000, speakers 9&10 are the two subs in the trunk.

Shelby's website also sells the Kicker replacement for the entire system but does not include an upgraded amp for the 8" door subs. Kind of a shame.
