I ordered my GT on November 3rd, and I'm gonna call up my dealer tomorrow to find out some information. What should he be able to give me? I'm looking for a VIN # or a build date perhaps, I'm not really sure. What should I expect from him?

See if he has a DORA for you. He should, hopefully, have the VIN number for you. He may or may not have a build date yet.

This reminds me, I need to call my dealer to get my DORA as well!!! I wonder if they're open today?

I ordered mine on the 6th of November and called the dealership on Monday of this week. He didn't have a VIN, a DORA (what is that exactly? I know stupid question), or any build date info on it. Ford hasn't called him or anything. Although, I wonder if he's doing what he can to find out about the car's info. Should I be worried?

From what I know the DORA are automatically printed the next morning with their status reports. It's a "receipt" that Ford got the order from the dealer. Also it depends on the dealers Mustang allocations whether the order will be delayed.

Hmm, I asked him for either the DORA(being instructed by a friend) or a VIN# and he said he hasn't heard anything from Ford. I hope this guy isn't trying to pull the wool over my eyes, because I will smell that out pretty quickly, and believe me the salesman will not want that. I put a $1000 deposit on this car and will not hesitate to go back and demand the money back if they start yanking my chain. Thanks for the explanation kintaro.

Just keep checking with the dealer(Weekly basis). The DORA will have some relevant info on it....Dealer #, order # and your name. You can ask for a copy of it. Dealers get daily status sheets on their orders. If you let them know you want to be kept up to date do so.....It's best to let them know you are on top of it , but not to be a "Pest". GOOD luck, you will LIKE this car B)

You bring up a good question, rSm00th. Why is it that you see really quick turnarounds for some and then for those in your situation where you ordered more than 5 months ago and haven't gotten your car. That's pretty insane. I wonder if it has anything to do with locale? Have you stayed in touch pretty regularly with the dealership?

I call twice a week and my dealer and I are pretty close.

My car was the 2nd Mustang ordered from the dealer and was put under their early order incentive program. For whatever reason I got struck with bad luck and it didnt start moving till a few weeks ago.

the computer says it's going to be built on Monday, so I'm going to be crossing my fingers all weekend!

yeah it's been painful watching people order theirs in September and October and get them a month early - I thought I was geting a jump on things by ordering in the spring time

but yeah, the wait will only make it that much more sweet when it rolls off the transport into my arms
