Old thread about a guy here buying a used GT500 a few years back??
I saw a link on another mustang site I go to where it shows an idiot driving a GT500 and just running the living hell out of it. It reminded me of a deal I vaugly remember reading here where someone ended up buying their 'dream car' for themselves as a retirement present only to very quickly realize the used GT500 they bought was one that had actually been heavily abused and trashed. From what I can remember, the new owner got the car from a guy in Chicago and even on the way home had the car fail when the tranny blew out before he could even get it in his own driveway. The car ended up having HUGE issues and the new owner ended up being virtually a saint with how well he dealt with all the outright lies that the original owner fed him about a car he originally claimed was 'used but in very good shape'.
I'm trying to find the thread (or the original poster) just to satisfy my curiosity to see if the video I saw on this other site is infact yet another example of when the original owner was abusing the hell out of the car.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to find the rather eventually long thread, I'd appreciate it. I'm not sure it was lost in the site crash or not, but I'd like a chance to read it over it at all possible.

I remember the thread you are talking about, and thinking back about the time line when that was, I'd say there is a good possibility it was lost when the site crashed.
The original seller was from Chicago and was moving to California or something. He sold it to a guy from Wisconsin maybe. I think it was principal pony was the buyer. I could be wrong, but that name jumps out at me.
Gary to the rescue.
I just don't know how, nor will I ever, understand how someone could buy a new car like the GT500, then go out and just abuse the h*ll out of it. Maybe there are some who should never be given the opportunity to own, nor drive, such a nice car. Regardless whether they can afford it or not. There are just some who are too juvenile to be allowed to own such a car in the first place.
This is the exact thread, thanks guys.
I wanted to read it again when I saw on another mustang site I go to someone was saying 'what a cool video of this bad assed GT500'. I watched it and thought I recognized the car as the one I had been previously reading about some time ago.
Jayhawk, I totally feel the same way. The purchaser should be sainted or something because my patience would have been worn out LONG before his (if his actually ever did). The guy outright misrepresented the car 100%, got the guy interested enough to actully make an offer on the car and then travel a pretty extensive distance to pick it up...only for him to then lie about all the things that were wronge with it. I still need to reread the thread, but I think he also promised to at least help pay for half of all the repairs and from what I remember, he didnt do that either. I dont know if it would have worked or not, but I think I would have been sueing his *** off, though I hate the thought of having to resort to something like that.
Its definately a shame, but nice to know the car is now in good hands of someone who cares about it and will take care of it. I struggle with the idea that there are infact people out there like this original owner who will without a seconds thought lie and attempt to screw the living hell out of someone with absolutely NO remorse. Sounds to me he should have a job with BP...or at least one as a used car salesman.

Andretti, it is people like you and me who appreciate the Mustangs we buy. We maintain them, take care of them and, hopefully, make them worth something so that future generations will want to own an older Stang (which the S197 will surely be collectible some day) to keep as something special.
Morons who get one and destroy it either have too much money or are too juvenile to know better than to trash something they've worked hard to attain.
