Off road h pipe? Question

If I get an pypes offroad h pype, would my service engine light come on? And if so, would my bama tuner be able to delete the code or something?

Yes to all of your questions. Yes the light would come on. Yes the tuner will be able to delete the sensor. And yes it will be able to connect. The axle backs don't connect to the h pipe directly.

The code will come up because "off road" means no catalytic converters. The second sensor is for catalytic converter efficiency. So... Without a catalytic converter the exhaust is not being filtered. So your car thinks that your catalytic converters are bad.

If you get a regular h pipe(not off road) you won't get the check engine light. Your car has a h pipe on it now though so it would be pretty pointless.

If you go this route make sure that you keep your stock pipe so that you can put it on for inspection(if your state has yearly inspections).

Pretty fair price. I think they go for around 300 new. I have a similar setup. I have a off road h pipe and axle backs. It's pretty loud. I can set off car alarms across a parking lot when starting up.

I see your question's have already been answered! Your Check Engine Light would come on if you installed an O/R mid-pipe, however we can turn the rear O2's off within the tune so you won't actually get a CEL.

Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I live in Maryland and unfortunately have to go through inspection. How would they know you have an off road H pype? When I took my car in right when I bought it, all they did was hook it up to the OBD port. They didn't hook anything up to my exhaust. At least, I didn't think they did. Do they see that the O2 sensors are turned off or something from the tune?

They can tell that the sensor is turned off so it won't pass. I just went through this.

Also with a visual inspection they would see that you don't have cats.

Isn't the cats towards the medial part of the car? Would the mirror even be able to see that? I feel like they could only see around the perimeter and in like a foot. But I have seen the mirror you're talking about at my inspection place. I wonder about my axle backs since they're muffler deletes. I took my car a year ago right when I bought it but I forget if I had my axle backs on at that time or not of the inspection.

Cats connect to the headers.

I have an Off-road H-pipe that I bought new in '05 and have yet to put it on! In New Jersey they do check for 'cats but I have been able to pass with my SLP Loudmouths, which are basically muffler delete's.
