Nov Cross Boarder Broken?
I was listening to the Radio today. Power 97 out of Winnipeg. and Power 97 gave an 05 GT away. its the First one in Winnipeg. What I want to know, is this the first 05 mustang in Canada that isn't on show. It has an owner. is there anywhere else in Canada where ppl own 05's yet?

That what I heard to. I was talking to my dealer and I was tould a show 05 GT and GT are coming in this month for prob a week. and I live in a town of 4000 people. so I was very suprised. so I wanna see if it happens or not
Often when cars are won in this way theres a disclaimer ie. "car not exactly as shown", "availability subject to dealer supply" or "allow 2-3 weeks delivery". I work in the casino industry and the cars you win in the casino don't come off the pedestal and handed to the winners. I'd imagine this car is not the actual car won, but I could be wrong.
Mines due this week 2. I'm not even going to bother calling the dealer this week. No more drive bys, updates or anything> I'm goin cold turkey until I get a phone call saying its in. I'll still check my phone messages 8 times a day though
I bet that first "giveaway" car hasn't been delivered yet.
I expect it as we were told, the first cars will drop the end of next week, or monday the 14th.
I realistically could see the canadian unveiling on friday the 12th or saturday the 13th, because those days would generate TONS of dealer traffic.

Mine is being built the week of November 8th. I'm hoping to get it by the end of November/ first week of December at the latest. Gotta play around before the snow hits.

I know what you mean about the snow. I would definately like a few nice days, if not weeks before the snow flies. I just find it hard to believe that we will see our cars 2-3 weeks after being built, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, last Christmas there wasn't any snow on the ground.
Here's hoping for a green Christmas!
I have a little question for you guys who live in Canada. Do any of you guys live near the america/canada border? And if so, what would it entail for you to just drive across the border & get the car in the US & then take it back to Canada?
Obviously I , having lived in Tennessee my whole life, have no idea what something like that would entail & it's something I have kinda been curious about for a while. Thanks guys. And good luck with your cars.

In the end, it would probally be more expensive to import than to just buy the car in Canada. I don't know all the details, but in addition to the price of the car, you would have to buy a metric instrument cluster. Also, all new cars sold in Canada must have day running lights, which would need to be added.
If you factor in the price of the Canadian / American dollar exchange (between 20 and 30%. As of now, its on the lower side of that; one American Dollar is about the same as 80 cents Canadian) , the MSRP of an american mustang gt in canada would be in the low 30' in canadian dollars, which is ballpark for a Canadian GT anyway. Add in the price of the upgradeds needed to make it legal here, and it is more money.
Further, some american cars can just not be imported to canada. Take the pontiac GTO, for example. Since the minimum requirements for crash tests are higher in canada, than the United States, the GTO meets the crash tests there, but not here. Therefore, it is illegal to import and drive a stock GTO in Canada.

As a Winnipegger, I can tell you that the guys at Power 97 are full of it. They not only claimed that the 05 was the first one in town, but in the entire province. There were even times that they'd claim that it was the first 05 in Canada! As if Ford would ship only one car up here by its lonesome self. Galaxie was exactly correct about the car. It was not present at the giveaway last week, and is supposedly sitting in a rail car somewhere in town awaiting the release date.
