The last offically sold European Mustang was sold in Germany of 1965, under the name T5. They were all I6s, no V8s. There are however companies in Europe that will import Mustangs into the countries and do the necessary conversion to make it meet European standards.

Sorry StangWille, I feel for you. It just probably is not economical for them to sell a V8 or even V6 Mustang in Europe, let alone Sweden.

Maybe they should bring back the T5... they might have to spruce it up though, and keep the same price as the V6 to get much out of it. And like above, it probably wouldn't be econmical.... econnmical... ECONOMICAL!

I am guessing a fill-up for a 2005 Mustang GT in Europe would run what, at $5/per gallon times 19 gallons. Wow, $95 per fill -- at least now I get why most people there drive Opels, Fiats and Peugots, oh my!! (couldn't help myself, lol)

Wrong brother - my old man had a T-5 Mach 1 replete with a 4V 351 Cleveland under the hood IIRC he bought it for less than 3k brand new.

I'll see if I can gather some photographic evidence (dear ol' mom has a pic laying around somewhere all the way from 1970)

It wouldn't even come close to meeting the European standards though...

It was called T5 in west Germany because there was a naming conflict with a bicycle company.

I believe the T5 name was used on sold/imported there unitl at least 1979

There is not enough of a market (gas prices) in europe to justify full-out importing of the Mustang there, at least from what I can see.

This is a link to a German Mustang Club site about importing a mustang, but may be of some use you.

There are actually quite a few private dealers that sell the new stang in sweden. I also found an official Ford dealer that sells both the GT and the V6. Prices range from 350.00-395.000 swedish krona (46.666-52666 US dollars!!!) for the GT. My father just placed an order for a RedFire 2005 GT. Same color he had on his previous 67 fastback.

The only mods neccessary for European compliance are side repeaters and orange signals on the back.

It is very easy to get a new American car through in Britain and Europe now. If the car has been built to CA emissions standards, it will easilly pass Euro standards.

I would agree, seeing as how GM is exporting the CTS and the C6 Vette to Europe.

Actually the SN95 was distributed officially in the Netherlands and Belgium in 1995, 1996 and 1997. It was a one off series of 350 cars (V6 coupes and V8 convertibles) that were built on one day in March of 1995 and were all shipped together. Took them 3 years to sell all of them. I still have one of the V6 coupes in storage that I used as a daily driver back then.

Apart from this there are so called grey importers in various European countries that import and register them on individual order, though the Germans and the Dutch are probably the most active in this area. Here in the Netherlands there are an estimated total of 500 SN95's on the road. You will almost never ever see a new model Mustang in for example France or Italy. A few in the UK, but they are a female dog to drive for those guys because they drive on the left side of the road.

Actually one of the bigger Dutch grey importers is already offering the 2005 V6 Coupe. They only ask a mere $48.000 for it.

Friend of mine has imported three Saleens in the last two years (two 97 convertibles and an Explorer). He did all the red tape and government approval issues with them himself! There's an interesting story on this in the Saleen Book.

It's one thing to import one, but the gas price issue is another....

There are rather a lot of SN-95's here, although nowhere near the amount of F-body's!

The LHD doesn't bother me at all (except at Drive Thru's and car park barriers......Unclip seatbelt, climb over passenger seat, press button and dive back into drivers seat!)
