My seat release know broke off in my son's hand. So I trot on down to the local dealership and the guy says, "are you sitting down"? $39.71 for a ****? Do you want to pound some sand up there while you're at it. Gee whizz Ford, is it made of gold?

in my 06, both of them broke when it was very new...warranty replacements (later than 06) dont break as easy. had 4 year warranty, the only thing it ever needed were those little levers
I agree- get at the boneyard. late model wrecks blow the seat apart when airbags deploy, could probably get them for near nothing from the useless seats.

A local wrecking yard would probably have the same item you are looking for at a faction of the price. I recall having to get a seatbelt retainer for a Ford Aerostar (piece of crap Van) and the dealership wanted $125.00. I got the same thing for $20.00 at the wrecker.

had that happen to me too. went to angle the seat back for someone (only had a rear passenger a handful of times) and it just snapped. luckily the car was still under warantee at the time so they replaced it no problem but wow, what a ripoff!

I've had both sides replaced under warranty, but if another one breaks I'll be getting these:

I got those exact billet ones last month and they look awesome!
Unfortunately the fit is a bit iffy so the kids managed to knock off the passenger side one and lose it somewhere
Now I will reorder and get the billet GT side release levers also

too bad they dont fit securely...the site says they are 6061 billet, but in the pics, sure looks cast to me- looks like theres a logo or dimple molded in to the mounting part? might just be the pic, but hmm...
I had thought about making a set when mine both snapped off (car was only months old) but looking at them, woulda been a lot of work...I had sketched up two interlocking sides with a screw to clamp them together, but not room for much threads, never tried.
The factory replacement ones seem a bit heavier, and are still fine >4 years later.

I've had the cjponyparts.com chrome-seat-release-levers installed on mine for about
two years.
Easy install, look 100% better than Factory and will not break like the Factory Issued.
Note: A little Silicon Seal on install and they are in there, almost permanent.

Speaking of getting hammered...
I decided today to buy a vinyl (faux leather) convertible top boot for my vert. The boot that came with the car is a disgraceful looking POS. It looks like the liner that might of fell out of a real convertible top boot! Anyway, the new boot cost $362.00. There's probably enough vinyl in this boot to cover 2 bar stools. They sure got you by the short hairs when you want something that looks nice, don't they?
