I was fooling around with the auto-up and auto-down window feature tonight. For the auto-down you hold the unlock button on the keyfob for 2 or 3 seconds and both windows go down (may require AAT). For the "auto"-up you turn the key toward the back of the car and both windows go up.

The weird thing I noticed is there is no lock cylinder on the passenger side door. It's not that big of a deal since it has the keyfob, but I just thought it was odd. Is that common on new vehicles?

No kidding, I have had my car for three years and the only place I have inserted the key was the ignition.

I agree about not using it. I use the keyfob. But if no one uses it then why put one on the drivers door and the trunk? I guess for a dead keyfob battery.

Wait, I take that back, I had to open the door with the key once. I parked near some tower, must of been some interference with the RF from the key fob and the RF from the tower, but the keyless entry was not responding.

I can honestly say a key hasn't hit a door of mine in at least 9 years.
I pop the trunk with the remote, I unlock the driver side, and I hit the unlock thing on the drivers armrest if I have a passenger.

The only things I can not live without and will miss are a trunk popper inside. I shop, I like to drive inside the garage, pop my trunk and move on.

Oh and my two hideyholes(I assume ones for a garage door opener, cause I use for that and my xm remote) and the other I use for bubble gum and starbursts. Yes, Im sad......

Yeah the 94-98's had them. Well. At least I know they did in 1996 so, I am assuming they did up till the 99's came out. I know this because my 96 had manual doorlocks & windows. That's why I never drove with the windows down. Too much work.

Someone said they don't have a keey hole in the trunck either but I think they do. My 03 has one. And waht's the big deal about the trunck openign button inside? I drove my 02 for like 6 months before I even noticed it had one. I never use it. I think I have used it like 3 times & that was just for the heck of using it.

Most car manufacturers have stopped putting keyholes on the passengerside doors. Has got nothing to do with people not using them, it's called cutting costs.

Fancy doormirrors with built in blinkers come from the same department. It's cheaper because they already have wiring going into the mirror, and it saves having to make wiring to the fender. Not having to mount blinkers in the fenders also saves time.

Believe me, mass production of cars is science. They look at everything.

No cigarette / ash trays are also a cost-cutting measure. I think Ford still offers one that fits in the cup holder for the new stang, just like the later Sn95's.

Someone showed me a remote tip that really works. If you're ever in a situation where the remote isn't working well or you need extra range, just place it against your chin and press the button. It really works, but may look kind of funny.

I use my cupholders for........drinks!

As for the locks, my old French piece of tin only had a lock on the drivers side. When my remote died one day, I put the key in the drivers door lock, turned....and the key went all the way round! I had to climb in through the trunk!

Yes the 05 has a trunk key. Seen it work myself.

I like having the interior trunk popper because sometimes I drop things off without turning the car off. You can't do that with the 05. You either have to take the key out of the ignition to unlock it. Or you have to turn the car off before you can activate the FOB trunk release.
