No Start - anti-theft issue Pats System Pdf's

OKAY this is related to an 08 Mustang It all started where once in awhile it wouldn't recognize my key It would think I was trying to steal my own car. I Would try some of the options I found on the internet. And eventually, It would start. I think mostly because I just wait a while and it would time out. Anyway, lo and behold, it finally quit, and would not start no matter what I tried. I have searched the Internet, read every post I could find To no avail. So here's what has Transpired.. After reading everything, I tried to get a new key made, and the guy couldn't talk to the body control module. So I started reading post about that. Found out that there's a leak that drips on top of the bcm and when I pull the original out, it had some moisture on it. And I cleaned all the connectors and fixed the leak and did everything I was supposed to. so i put a new body control module in. And it still didn't work. Which I kind figured because I thought it would need to be flashed. So I loaded it up on the rollback, and I took it into Ford. Well, Ford calls me up and says, well, we can't flash it or dump the code until all the components work, and you need to rear tire sensors. We'll go ahead and get them and put them in. We did that. No good. They then suggested to get a transducer in two new keys. Try that. No good. Then they said, Well, you main computers must not be communicating. We need to replace it. So another $900, they replaced it. And. And guess what? It didnt work. So to my understanding, we pretty much have changed all the components in the theft circuit. So Monday I'm going to talk to the mechanic and listen to some song and dance, I'm sure. So I was trying to find out some information beforehand. I mean, really, if Ford can't flash and fix your **** car, what the hell is a man supposed to do? Any information or advise or someplace for me to look, would be greatly appreciated. My boy's missing his car and I'm tired of him driving my GT, I would love to give him his little 6 cylinder back. Hell, he's almost put as many miles on it in the last three weeks than I have since I owned it. Please help me get my GT back. Thanks In advance guys.

Hello,

Sorry to Hear of Your Troubles!

I have Posted The Anti Theft Section of the 2008 Mustang Shop Manual to Better Give You an Overview of The System and How it Works. They are Interactive PDF'S These Days So They are Really Setup to Be Used Online So This is the Best I Can Do Offline.

I Don't See Btw How Rear Wheel Speed Sensors Would Have Anything to Do the Pats System. I would Also Think you would Have Had a BRAKE Warning Light if the Antilock System Had an Issue When it Was Running. Just Saying. I Did Not See it Listed in Components of the Anti-theft System. If I'm Wrong Somebody Chime in. Now The BCM Install Maybe Requires it Did Not Dig Into that!

They Did Not Do You Any Favors on the PCM. All the V6 Pcm's are Discontinued From Ford It Looks Like. So They Had to Go Aftermarket. Little ammo Here For Pricing Issues! Need Vin For Looking Up Exact Part! I would Check Service Order For PCM Part Number To See What They Sold You!

I would Be Happy to Look At Invoice For You To See if Any Price Gouging Issues. Make Sure PCM has Part Number on Repair Order Not Just Aftermarket Pcm Etc. So You Can Backtrack Pricing. Be Advised I'm Using Available Online Parts Cataloging So I'm not 100% as I Would Be With FORD DEALER CATALOGING. And Again the VIN is Critical!

OEM LISTINGS

https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts...tml?pnc=12A650

ROCKAUTO PCM'S

https://www.rockauto.com/en/partsearch/?partnum=pcm

Hopefully They Will Get it Figured Out. After that Happens I Would Have a Visit with the Dealership Owner and CALMLY Explain the Situation and See If He / She will Help Out with The Bill. Start Calm Then If It's a Dry Well Then you Might Get More Assertive. Can't Start Out Assertive or Then Being Calm is Too Late. I know you are Fired Up & I Don't Blame You! Just My 2 Cents After Working in Ford Dealership Parts And Parts Management From 1985-2017.

Make Sure & Save All Old Parts You Can. If it Has a Core Value They Won't have it. I Just Got to Thinking if the PCM Did not Fix the Issue Why Not Put the Old One Back In! That's on Them! You Should Not Have to Pay for a Misdiagnoses! Things Go Really South May Have to Go to the BBB.

Thank you sir, you are a God send, I greatly appreciate your input. Looks like iI have some studying to do and will let you know the results. Again thanks. And the deal with the tire sensors, they said that unless they could communicate with all the components of the BCM, that they could dump it and then re-flash it. I'm not sure the validity of it, but it could make sense. So I told him to go ahead and replace them.

Well, in my mind, you were a godsend, because I have spent many hours reading And pouring over the Internet, trying to find somebody that could tell me something that I didn't already know, of Which you did. And I do greatly appreciate it I have rebuilt and restored several cars, built hot rods and raced motorcycles and boats too. So don't always have to have wheels. I have 40 years as an it specialist (computer guy). But when you mix motors and computers together, some of the stuff I just haven't quite got figured out yet. I'm not sure I will before my days are done. But I'm working on it.

Just for an update. Took the card a Ford to have it flashed and they had since had it for five weeks now. And are still trying to fix it. They say they're trying to find another BCM, where. I'm not quite understanding, because we put a new BCM in it, but apparently they don't trust it. And they've been looking for one for a while. They said they'd be in touch, but I did get a loaner car out of them, so it's not been all bad. I got my GT back, and the boy gets to drive a new fusion. OK. Well, I'll let you know when I find out for real what happened, or if we fix it. That's the only thing about these forums. I've been messing with this stuff for 40 years, and I just wish everybody would come back and say, Hey, this is what I did to fix it. I'll try to do that. Thank you guys and have a nice day

Hello,

Ken

Back When I Was Selling Parts at the Dealer I would Use These Folks When Ford Could Not Supply The Part. In Fact I Got an ECM for My 02 Harley F-150 and it Did the Trick. They are Not Cheap But Are Flexible on Returns if it's Not the Issue.

I Like to Look these Up with VIN Number to Get Original Part Number. Your Dealer Should Have Alternate Sources for Unavailable Parts But Maybe They Have Trust Issues Etc. As a Retired Veteran Ford Parts Manager I will state for the Record I Had Good Luck with These Folks! If You Need, Send Me Your Vin To Clevparts@aol.com & I should Be Able To get That Number For You! I would Call Auto Ecms & See What They Say First to Get a Feel for What You Need! Also If You Still Have Original it Should Have an ID Sticker on it!

Sorry we Don't Have as Much Participation in the Forums as in the Old Days! We Get 600 People at a Time Reading the Info as Guests But only a Handful That Log On and Try to Help. It's Like That on other sites as Well!

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having issues like this, especially with a dang Ford dealership, you'd think they could fix their own cars, lol.

And you're not wrong about KC, I've been on here for 15 years or more and the replies and knowledge and information he can and has provided through the years is some of the best I've ever seen on any forum. He is a God send for people who have exhausted other avenues.
