Thumbs up

1. What is the 800 # to call the robot lady. I have an order number from my dealer. I want to be mad and disappointed too! I promise to call only once every two weeks until I get my vin... after that all bets are off.

2. How long should you break in your engine? Treat me like a novice here. I have never had a NEW car much less a real muscle car and I want to take good care of my new baby.

3. When to wax? I have read it both ways on this very forum. The FAQ part says wax ASAP and other threads say to wait a few months. What is the 'final answer' on this topic?

:worship:

I now bow to the wisdom possesed in the online forum. May my thread bring many responses and excellent advice.

ps.. what is a D.O.R.A?

Theoretically you should be able to wax immediately, since the process the paint is put on from the factory it is baked.

Engine break in, most say 1000 miles, don't travel the same speeds, i.e. don't jump on the highway and put 1000 miles on it and go "I broke it in" The motor theoretically needs to be worn in, although when I get mine, I won't think about breaking it in. I am not waiting all this time to get the frigin thing only to have to wait a 1000 miles for break in.

1. Per the site owner, it can't be posted, it is for dealer's only.

2. Usually about a 1000 miles, but that doesn't mean you have to baby it, let it get out and stretch its legs, just don't keep a constant speed and RPM for extended periods of time, it is perfectly fine to find out what it can do.

3. You can wax the day you get it. Factory paint is cured when it leaves the factory.

1. Ditto....

2. Drive it like you stole it, put away wet, rinse and repeat (just no "steady speed")

3. As soon as you want to!

Why bother waxing when it has a couple of clearcoats on it anyway...just wash it!! Does anybody know how many layers of clearcoat the cars come with from the factory?

Well that's one approach, but believe me, you can make it shine even more by keeping a few good coats of wax on it at all times

I use Meguires products.

Claybar that pony and wax it. Zaino's and Meguire's are both awesome brands!

In addition to 'breaking in the engine', there has also been discussion about 'bedding in the brakes' - helps prevent squeaking, and makes the pads and rotors last longer.

It's gets all the contaminants out that can't be taken out by normal washing. Usually you can't see these contaminants but you can definitely feel them, after clay bar, your finish will feel as smooth as glass.

I agree with Zainostore.com

Get the show car polish kit and claybar it first.

Can someone please explain what "bedding in the brakes" means? thanks!

Look at the autopia website for waxing, polishing. I would just concentrate on reading about Klasse and Zaino; but feel free to drive yourself crazy.

I ended up using Klasse All in one and P21S wax, as well as clay the car.

The benefit of Zaino is the ability to use the additive, where you do not have to wait for the polish to cure 24 hours in between layers. Klasse was great, but I did not like the curing time, and Zaino has this solved. If you are not going to add layers, it probably is a toss up.

I didn't realize how many particles were in the paint, till I used a clay bar. The difference was flat out amazing, with a clay bar rub down and 2 coats of Meguires the paint was as smooth as a baby's butt. A clay bar is definitely worth the 5 or 10 bucks it costs.
