New Shaker 500 Question
I don't think this question has been addressed and its not really a problem, just wondering if others are experiencing it or not.
I have a few live concert cd's that I play often...and these cd's are "continuous" track cd's, meaning, if I play them on any other cd player when the track number changes from 1 to 2...or x to y....there is no pause or stop in play..its a live cd and it continues like normal....
however.....
in the shaker 500 cd player when the tracks change it pauses for a slight second between tracks, so no track can lead into another without some kind of pause.
Is this by design? Anyone else experience this?
Thanks.

It must be by design because mine does it too. I remember several others commenting on this a long time ago but, no one could figure out why it was set up this way. It's kind of annoying.
When a CD is burnt it is told to either include a 2 second pause between each track, or to ingore it and play continuously ignoring any difference between tracks. What the CD player is doing is interpreting that 2 second pause between each track. It may not show up on other players because they are set to instead ignore the pause themselves.
I think that may help?

I think this is a design flaw in the shaker 500, just wanted to see if others out there are also experiencing it.
Yes it is a design flaw - and as much as I love the Shaker otherwise (TSB not withstanding) I think it is absolutely moronic for Ford to put a stereo in a car that does this - automatically insert the space between tracks and you cannot shut that off.
Compact disc players have been around for 20 years. This might have been a problem 10/15 years ago or something - but it should NOT be an issue in 2005.

I'll deal with it now even though its annoying. I'd be interesting to engage Ford and find out if they have brought this problem to the attention of their Vendor and if the Vendor is going to address and/or fix the problem.
I guess it won't matter when I put some evil kind of system in the car, but for the time being I'll just deal with it.

Yeah I hear ya - I will deal with it and have been dealing with it - and like I said, OTHERWISE, I dig the Shaker in the car.
But that doesn't excuse the fact that in this day and age, this is a plain STUPID problme to have to worry about....
yea when I first noticed this I thought I burned my CD wrong because I always make sure the gap is 0, but after reading some other posts and playing retail CD's I realized it was the shaker. Kind of stinks but I'm learning to live with it...somewhat :bang:
I've noticed (and been very annoyed by) the gap as well. CD's like American Idiot play seemless in my other cars. And now I'm having more weird issues with my replacement Shaker! Not playing, skipping. Here we go again.

I wonder if this is something that Delphi or Visteon can fix with a computer download
