One of the guys on Miata.net spotted an '05 Mustang and an '05 500.

The picture isn't the best but at least it's a new one. (at least I hope it is)

Cool! Nice size comparison between the Mustang, 500, Excursion, and F-150

That 500 looks a lot better there than in any previous pic I've seen. Maybe because it's near a Mustang.

It's the same reason why the F-150 doesn't have a 6.2L V8 that makes 350 + hp .. Ford put all their engine projects on hold when they started "cost cutting" and the 35 Duratec was put a FAR back burner . It stinks, but that's how it is. It'll "make do" with its 6-spd and CVT trannies ..

I think Ford is headed in the right direction, but they really need to help Mercury out!
The Cougar failed, and became a girls car. The Marauder is very nice, but cost way too much, and is just a fast Crown Vic!

Wait and see. Mercury is getting a host of new vehicles. I think they're going to make a comeback.

Ha! But of course, what better way to make a car look good....

Seriously though, the 500 looks almost Benz-like from the side. Not exactly a head turner, but it's no Taurus either. And from what I've seen of the interior Ford is definitely headed in the right direction. Now if we could just get a little more motor.... :bang:

How does something classify as a "girls car" just because girls drive it, does that make it a "girly car" and why did it fail because it was a girls car? Just Wonderin.

The 500 is an upgrade from the Taurus. I like the design and interior is nice. The AWD option will be really nice too! Should be a great seller for Ford. But, I agree, it needs more Horse Power!

I hope Ford does something with Mercury! If I were in their shoes, I would try and make Mercury very distictive from a Ford. I would make them more sporty and try to market them towards younger people.

I really like the photo's of the 2006 Lincoln Zepher. I am glad to see Lincoln go with a more modern look.

HorsC, Mercury brought in the Cougar to attract younger buyers & attract more women to their product. Which is a good thing. But, it became more attractive to the girls, then it did to the guys. Mercury needed it to be a hit for both sexes, and it wasn't. The Cougar needed more male buyers to succeed.

The fuzziness of the picture gives me an idea how she'd look with louvres on the back window.

Would have been better if the Cougar was designed after the Probe GT. :bang: Affordable, fuel efficient, V6, IRS, FWD, low stance, quick, hatchback appealing to both males and females alike. Instead, we have the cougar that looks like a lady-bug.
