I am going on 400 miles on my car... and I have been driving her since day 1... For these first 400 or so miles she has had very snappy throttle response... especially in first gear... anyone with a GT will know what I am talking about... Today I was driving to school as normal and when I reached a stop light I decided I was gonna open her up a little down the road... As I went to do this in first gear I noticed alot of throttle lag and my RPMs were very hesitant to rise... And she did this all the way through the gears... I have heard of the dreaded throttle lag caused by the new throttle system on the cars, but I have not heard of anyone mention RPMs being slow to rise... I dont mean creeping slow but very noticable difference... Anyone else having this sort of issue??? My dad has insisted that I run medium grade gas even though I tell him she was designed to run on 87 octane... could this be a potential factor??? I dont want to look like an idiot taking her up to my dealer for this sort of thing without some kinda feedback...

87 octnae makes it run better than premium due to computer settings, the stock tachs rise slowly, and r not too accurate so this could be it unless the motor revs slow, or the tach moves slow?

You should try launching at a higher RPM, rev it a little and drop the clutch somewhere between 2000-2200 RPM. The car will jump. Any higher and you'll smoke em.

When shifting through gears, try shifting between 5000 and 5200. Only when you're getting on it of course.

If it is that drastic, take her in and have her checked out!

Your problem is not mid-grade gas or throttle lag (as discissed here in the forum). There are so many things it could be though, that a trip to the dealer should not make you feel uncomfortable. Been in any races?
Maybe it ate something that didn't agree with it! j/k

Ha no racing yet... and I know about dumping the clutch at high rpms and baby will it still smoke the rubbers! The problem comes when first giving it the gas to raise the rpms... It just seems to take more time to climb than it has been... you can especially feel the difference in first gear... just isnt jumpy anymore... just seems to roll on almost too easy!

Doesn't happen often any more, but a bad load of gas esp. during winter time is not out of the question.

I've run premium and regular with absolutely no change in response, performance or MPG. The car is not tuned to run BETTER with 89, just tuned to be able to run fine with it.

The lag you feel is the electronic throttle control and the computer mapping. The car feels very different with this throttle by wire. It just takes some time to adjust to the unnatural feel of it. Also, from what I understand, the computer has maps for different driving situations to try and conserve fuel and reduce emissions. If your in the "econo map" it may be slow to respond to more throttle.

Can you explain what the "maps" are and how they work? I've never heard of that. Not trying to hijack the thread...... Thanks!

I'll bet you were misfiring. check the TSB skitcky.... I'd have it checked out... have the dealer reflash your PCM to the lates revision, it should clear it up.

If you have been driving the car for 400 miles and you can FEEL that much of a difference then there is something wrong. No CEL light? It wasn't the traction control kicking in was it? If not then take her in to the dealer and see what he has to say about it.
