New Feature on the '07??

I noticed on my car that when you unlock the car with the key fob that the headlights come on for about 30 seconds. The owner's manual says this feature is enabled by default and gives instructions on how to disable it. I had downloaded the '06 manual a few months ago and don't remember seeing this feature. Do the '05's and '06 do this also?

On that same note, when I unlocked the car and the headlights came on tonight, the headlights first looked as if they had the "angel eye" lit ring around the headlights, the way the BMW's do. A closer look at the headlights revealed that the outer edge of the headlight reflector has many little facets round the edge to give it this affect. Kind of cool.

From the looks of the '07 it does seem that the lenses are different from the 05-06...

My '05 doesn't do that either, must be new for '07. My headlights also do not have the facets you mention, I guess that's new too. Cool stuff!

How about posting the procedure used to disable/enable this feature so those of us so inclined can test for it's existance?

Page 79 of owner manual states...

Perimeter lighting feature (if equipped)

The perimeter lighting feature illuminates the exterior of the vehicle in
order to provide better visibility to the user while he or she approaches
and enters the vehicle.

The perimeter lighting feature activates the head lamps, park lamps and
side marker lamps when:
• the user activates an unlock feature, using either the remote keyless
transmitter or the keypad, or
• when the vehicle is unlocked using the driver’s door key lock cylinder.
The perimeter lighting feature will turn off if:
• the vehicle is locked using the remote entry transmitter, or
• the ignition is turned to the 3 (ON) position, or
• after 25 seconds of illumination.

Enabling/disabling the perimeter lighting feature

Your vehicle comes with the perimeter lighting feature enabled. You may
enable/disable this feature by having your vehicle serviced by your
authorized dealer.

You may also perform the following power door lock sequence to
enable/disable the perimeter lamps feature. All vehicle doors must be
closed before beginning the procedure. You must complete Steps 1–3
within 30 seconds, or the procedure will have to be repeated.

1. Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position, then press the unlock control
three times.
2. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF) position, then press the unlock control
three times.
3. Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position; the horn will chirp to
indicate the driver configuration mode has been activated.

Activating or deactivating the perimeter lighting once in program mode is
accomplished by:

• pressing the trim panel power door unlock control twice within
five seconds.

At this point, perimeter lighting will be activated if it was previously
deactivated, and deactivated if it was previously activated. Confirmation
of perimeter lighting being activated is provided by a short horn chirp
followed by a long horn sound; Confirmation of perimeter lighting being
deactivated is provided by a short horn chirp only.
Exiting the program mode is accomplished by turning the ignition to any
position other than the 3 (ON) position, or two minutes elapsing since
the program mode was entered.

Yeah, the new headlights definitely seem to have a beveled ring around the outer perimeter - but I don't know if I would go so far to say it looks like the BMW effect. The illumination still seems to be largely coming from the main bulb.

It's hard to tell from the pics - does that outer ring really glow brightly...and independently of the center bulb during this effect?

I just wish they would have fixed the global up/down windows, rather than deactivating it and calling it a day.

Hey, maybe they did. You should test for that.

Yes, that is definitely different than the '05. Mine is smooth around the perimeter. I'll try and take a pic shortly...

It's hard to see because of all the dust inside the lens, but here's a pic that shows the '05 doesn't have those facets.

control button??

Wheres this control button??
When I did this:
1. Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position, then press the control
three times.
2. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF) position, then press the control
three times.
3. Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position; the horn will chirp to
indicate the driver configuration mode has been activated.

I used the unlock button on the drivers door ??? but it did not work, how ever my horn did beep once between step #2 and before step #3.

and YES fix the DANG global window thingy, thats the reason I got the active theft in the first place.

It seems to have the same effect as my wife's 2006 Audi A4. The ring around the edge catches the light from the main bulb making it look like an independent ring.

Sorry about that, the little icon didn't make it accross and of course the instruction don't make sense without it. I went ahead and edited my earlier post to correct the problem. Each reference to the "control button" was supposed to mean to press the "Unlock" button on your key fob.

I couldn't agree more. Plus, they raised the price of the active anti theft for '07 too!

Tire Pressure Monintoring System on 2007's

I picked up my 07 GT last night, I noticed that the 2007's have the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). It is explained on page 145 of the Manual. I think TPMS is required on all 2007 vehicles.
The car is better than I expected.

I traded in a 06 GT vert for an 07 GT/CS vert this week. Part of the deal was that the dealer would exchange my auto-dimming mirror w/temp, compass and Homelink into the 07 (which comes with auto-dimming mirror and compass). Come to find out that the wiring is different from 06 to 07; the available kit to convert will not be available for 2-3 months. Any thoughts appreciated.

I just picked up my grabber orange 07 the other day...
I just went to the garage to try unlocking the car remotely to see if my headlights came on and they did.
I didn't know about this feature till now (been driving in the daytime too much)
thanks Steevr !!
