New addition to the Stable, got a few questions

I picked this baby up from the dealer 2 weeks ago. It was completely stock so it's a blank canvas for me to mod. Just don't know where to start. I installed a Ford Racing CAI and a Scott Drake strut tower brace but don't know which tuner to go with yet. I would like to get a different exhaust by don't want to be annoyed by the sound when the top is down, got any suggestions?

Check American Muscle for tuners. Great customer service and you get tunes for life when you buy a tuner through them.

As for exhaust, I recommend pypes bomb axle back exhaust. Also through AM. Easy installation and absolutely amazing sound. No drone either.

Thanks, I've always loved that combo because it reminds me of a Doberman, and I think tan won't be so hot in the summer sun.

That looks really good, I wonder if they'd offer that again on 14 since tan top is back

Borla stingers, or possibly cheaper the ford racing mufflers that are stingers, but are stamped with ford racing on the tip instead. Best exhaust. Loud when you want, almost inaudible when cruising. No drone. Just perfect. And huge chrome tips too!

Anyways, welcome and great car. I love black convertibles but I'm biased. What color interior? And the fan blade wheels look really nice.

Edit: never mind. Just saw the tan interior. That looks good.

I just found out the hard way that in order to run a CAI in my GT I have to reprogramm the ECU. While I was out tonight my check engine light came on and the codes read the engine was too lean.

So back to the stock air cleaner for now.

I bought it from a guy off of Craigslist. The main reason I bought it was because I liked the construction of the part that holds the air cleaner. The Ford Racing CAI looks like on OEM part and not an aftermarket one. Also because I picked it up for $150. It didn't look used and he threw in a new AirRaid filter. The guy had a Diablo Sport inTUNE but he wanted $350 and for that price I'd rather buy it new from American Muscle.

I second the vote for the Borla Stingers. I have them on mine, love the sound that they make. Although, I do have a slight drone around 60mph in 5th gear. Downshift (or go faster) and it goes away.

I've been surfing Craigslist and found a set of fairly new SLP Loudmouths for $150. I figure at that price I could give them a try if if I don't like them, then I'll try the Borla Stingers or the Ford Racing because they seem to be the same. I could be wrong.

The ford racing and borla stingers are the same. Just depends on what you want stamped on the tip. Good luck. If I were you I'd cut right to the stingers. My first mod, and I literally still love it every time I drive the car. I remember smiling just yesterday bc of them.

Well I already bought the SLP pipes and I should be getting my Diablo inTune tomorrow from AM. So I'll be installing the CAI and the pipes on Saturday, that is if I don't go to the car show at the Javitz Center.

I loved my Mac axle backs when I was otherwise stock exhaust. The sound is very deep and old school, but they do have some drone. Think about what you want the car to be and work on your mods from there. Full power in a straight line or top down twisties queen? Little of both?

Etnoats, I wonder if that's the same Mac that makes pipes for motorcycles. I had a set on my 85 Magna. I had my dates all wrong, I did install the SLP's yesterday and I went from not hearing the exhaust to what sounds like a real muscle car. Only problem is there is a loud hum in the car when accelerating at partial throttle.

When I idle it's barely noticeable and at wot it sounds great, even scared a few people crossing the street. It was funny as they walk against the light thinking they own the street and then scramble like roaches when you turn the lights on.
