New '08 GT - what a car!!
What's up everyone, new member here. Just picked up my '08 Vista Blue GT 5spd the week before last so I've been going through the break-in process and checking out the forums while finalizing the direction I'm going with the car. I'll spare the obligatory stock photos and post modded pics soon enough.
My last ride was a tuned '06 Trailblazer SS which was solid although I won't be in a hurry to purchase a heavy "performance" suv/truck again any time soon. The driving experience is fun but just doesn't compare to a performance coupe. Plus I don't need all the space for my dd.
I know I should refrain from the previous gen comparisons but this is quite the upgrade from my previous GT, a 2000 5 spd. This car is simply one of the best platforms for modification, I'm convinced. I'm anxious to feel how the car responds with a set of H&R sports or Steeda Ultralites combined with Bilsteins.
Out of the gate, I was pleased with the speed in first through second. Cars are so quick nowadays that 0-60 in 4.9 seconds doesn't seem all too impressive on paper, but I digress. This car is smack you like a bastard quick... I'm not particular to brand and have no bias. I got into it with a 335 on Saturday but we'll leave that alone 4 now
. Forget a GT500, SRT-8, STi, Evo, Shelby, Vette, whatever! With a Vortech and suspension this car is guaranteed to fulfill my performance desires as a cozy daily driver that looks great, rides well and will dust off a lot of competition.
It's nice to get behind the wheel of this car too. The interior is well laid out, it shifts so much better than the last generation and the front two seating areas have good room and feel cozy. It's 3 A.M. and I'm going to go sit in it right now and listen to my MP3 player through the aux port.

You think that car is quick now.... get a CAI kit and a Tuner from either www.brenspeed.com or www.bamachips.com and we will have to remove your grin surgically

Congrats and BOOM, here's your nanner:
I just picked up my 2008 GT Deluxe with manual transmission on Friday. These S197s are really, really nice daily drivers. Very impressed with the Deluxe stripper interior too.
I would say good choice on the color, but I think every color offered looks good!
I think my first mods will be all-weather floormats and painting the calipers red. I was going to do axel-backs but I really like the stock exhaust, so there's $300 I can spend on something else! By far the best sound stock exhaust I've heard.

Awesome, congrats to you as well. I would have been perfectly content with any one of 5-6 colors from the line-up although I would have loved to have waited for the dark green bullitt. I just couldn't restrain myself any longer as I was still kicking myself for not picking up the '07 Alloy GT I had lined up back in June for a great price. I looked at a few low mileage used Saleens as well as the GT350 in the past month but it was not to be.
I will have that CAI and Tuner installed by Halloween. I'd like to wrap up my suspension by Thanksgiving. I'm on the holiday modification plan diet. I'm sure I'll cheat with rims or exhaust or that double din Pioneer DVD player.

Keep an eye on the temp guage. If it starts to overheat at all, shut it down and get it towed back to the dealership. Apparently there are a lot of 2008's with defective coolant crossover tubes from the factory.
Have the dealer change that out at your first service interval, if you can't get in there before then. You really don't want to see steam and coolant blasting out of your new car on the shoulder of the highway before you hit 200 miles on the odometer. That's how my morning started.

Sorry to hear about the mishap
Did you get it back yet?
I noticed my temp guage was leaning a little too far to the right. I just thought it was a Ford kink but now its a concern. I will get it checked out immediately.
