Whats the difference between Black and "Ebony" (Supposedly new for '06)?

I've seen that before, I believe Ebony has a hint of green to it.

It's Ford. Black will always be black.*

*It will also always have orange peel, be hard to clean, then, stay clean for 15 minutes. It still is the best choice IMO.

hopefully, it will have a metallic touch to it, like Subaru's ebony.

Ebony is also what the new Harley-Davidson F-150 w/ its 22" rims is being offered in.

Really, I'm interested in this "orange peel" too. Not sure what it is, 3 black Ford vehicles have been in my family since '99.

'99 Expedition, '99 Harley F-150, and an '04 Harley F-250, and never once have wittnesed "orange peel".

It does, however, turn "green" in the spring time when all..(cough).... that....(SNEEZE!).... pollen is in the air.

MMMMM black. My vert is going to be black! Funny, I wind up with the yellow one Hubby wanted, he winds up with the black one I wanted.

From the factory, "orange peel" is the desired result. No way to get a glass like paint job from the factory.
-Jason

Sorry, I'm still lost. Is this a physical result of the curing process or a shade/haze that is produced after X amount of time from the elements?

I wanted to repaint mine(mellow yellow) because of it. Painter told me before I got scared off by the super high price, its a result of not enough curing time after painting- they rush em out of paint and down the line too quick. Could be wrong though, BUT if light or sunlight shines direct on it, it looks like an orange. All stippled and stuff. :notnice:
My alero is six years old, and the paint on it still looks like glass. Go figure.Could be a Ford thing.

Thanks for the clarification. I have yet to see it on any of our Ford vehicles. I'll be keeping an eye out for it.
