Need some tuning / setup help for stereo
Need some tuning / setup help for stereo
In my 2006 mustang with the shaker 500 I replaced speakers and hu with the following.
Pioneer head unit with 2 preouts + front / rear speakers
Door 5x7 Boston caustics 2-way
Rear 6x8 Pioneer 3-way
Trunk 2 10” subs in a ported box w/2ch amp
Door subs left stock
Rear amp for subs hooked up to rear preout-amp has either hi or low pass (head unit has low pass but limited selection)
5x7 / 6x8 front and rear hooked to speaker outs and have limited hi pass selections from head unit.
Door amp for subs hooked to front preout that are also controlled with same hi pass as 5x7 / 6x8 speakers.
Just need some help tuning everything? When door subs are unplugged it sounds much better, but would like to use them for mid bass. Not sure who to do this since they are controlled by the same hi pass filter as the 5x7 / 6x8’s
Low pass settings available oh head unit 50-63-80-100-123 Hz and same for hi pass.
The amp for the subs in rear has available either hipass-80-2.5k or
Lowpass-35-400Hz
Looking for some recommendations or sugestions on setup.
Would like to use 5x7 and 6x8 full range-door subs for mid bass and rear subs for lows of course.
Thanks

what about the door subs doesn't sound good when they are hooked up? Distortion?
The factory subs really arent good, so getting the sound you want out of them may be difficult. The midbass you'd want would probably be 100-4/500hz. With the current setup you are running i dont know if there is any way you can achieve just mid bass out of those unless you got them their own x-over.

Put a low pass filter on your door sub amp input, say FMod 500hz or 300hz if they make one. Or a passive low pass coil before the door sub speakers and a passive high pass capacitor before the door 5x7. Also you can try hooking up the door subs out of phase?
