My dealer faxed over my invoice for ordering my '05 Mustang GT, and there is a
"FDS Assessment charge" from Ford Motor Company of $240.00 and
"Gas Fee" of $22.55
Are these normal? He said I could order the car at $500 over Invoice, but he can not waive these fees, they are set from Ford Motor Company..........
Just want to make sure he is being honest....................thanx......

When you are working on "Invoice" level, it is not uncommon for these fees to be added in. I suppoise you could "WorK" the deal some but you are getting a Good deal at $500. over. These cars are going to get very HOT very soon, get yourself locked in ASAP IMHO. B)

Get a detailed printout from him. From what I have seen of one or two postings of actual dealer invoices, these numbers are already in the invoice price he should be quoting you. Maybe he is quoting you the invoice without those numbers and adding them on. Either way, you typically pay them, but most of the time they have already been added into the invoice. Some dealers try to get you to pay for them twice, by showing you an invoice price that already includes them, and then throwing them on the purchase agreement again.
If you use Kelly blue book to price it, it will not include these two numbers in the invoice total.

The first charge is, I believe, what the dealers pay in for regional advertising (the ones that say, "Visit your eastern Virginia Ford dealer" or other localized version for your area) The dealer cannot and will not waive those fees.
The gas charge is to put gas in your tank to move it around, of course. Maybe they're charging a per-gallon premium. But would you let that get in the way of getting the keys and getting behind the wheel?
I wouldn't!

I hope you don't pay more "WRB" cause $500 over INVOICE seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. When they are new on the lot, watch the numbers rise, and then you might be sorry you didn't beat the rush ( so to speak)............

$500 over invoice isn't bad . But somewhere outthere one of the "gotta have it nows" will pay retail or god help them even more. And that will make me wait until the evil dealers have filled their bellies on profit before I can get mine.

And it's the attitude you're gonna have to have if you want the car and that's the deal they are offering. Now mind you...I struck a pretty darn good deal. $300 under invoice, so who am I to argue about $262.55
I would ask to see the original invoice and see if they are not trying to double charge, but otherwise it's not like i'm gonna find a better deal anywhere else.

Hey Ace0215, if I am not wrong you are getting the car on AAA pricing. Just wondering what you have ordered, V6 or GT.
I spoke to the director of AAA new vehicle purchasing program and he told me that there will be no AAA discount on the 05 GT's for atleast 8-12 months after the car is introduced.
How did you get your dealer to agree on that price as the dealers do not have the AAA pricing yet?

Hey Red/Black GT, Yes I did go through the AAA website to contact a dealer. And I did order a GT. As far as I can tell...there is no standard AAA pricing. A dealer can still charge whatever they want, but the dealers that are in the AAA program are suppose to give discounts. And from what I can see each dealer may have a method upon choosing what discount to give. For example: the first dealer I tried said he had no info on 2005 but I could get a 2004 for invoice. So then I contacted a second dealer (AAA website makes you wait 3 days to contact another dealer). On the AAA website for the dealer I selected it said $300 under invoice 2004/2005 models. And when the dealer contacted me by phone he confirmed that he could sell me the 2005 for that price. So I started the order process right away.
Also, from what I hear...the AAA website is different for different markets, but this is what I did:
1) Go to www.aaa.com
2) Click Automotive
3) Click Vehicle Buying Program
4) Click Dealer Locator
5) Choose Ford/Enter Zipcode/Click Submit
6) Choose A dealer and Click get quote
7) Choose 2004...YES...2004 Ford Mustang as 2005 Mustangs are not listed Yet, click continue
8) Choose trim level, click continue
9) The next page will be the "AAA New vehicle Purchasing Certificate" where you fill out your personal info and submit it on to the dealer. Then the dealer will contact you. And this is when you say, "I actually wanted to order a 2005"
Hope this helps/clarifies anything

Thanks Ace, I did go through the AAA website and the dealer that I contacted told me that he does not have a AAA pricing, so can not make a deal on that. He however gave me a 400$ over Invoice deal, so I am not complaining.
Thanks for the info, I was just curious.
