Navi question

I didn't get a manual for my navi system. Is there a way to have the screen default to off? I don't like the distraction of having it on, and it's a PITA to have to turn it off every time I get in the car.

Are you talking about the actual navigation (maps?) or the unit (radio included)?

I would like the screen to go totally black by default when the car is started, or at least only the time showing. That big Ford oval is too distracting, and puts out too much light at night.

You can download manuals from ford.com, they might have the Navi manual there.

I saw nothing in the manual about it. The Ford logo displays whenever the unit is 'OFF'

I have not found a way to do it, but if you do, let us all know.

I didn't see it mentioned, but are looking for something like the Menu/Display Off function as the default setting? It certainly leaves the screen blank, but it resets to Auto (display on) when the car is turned off.

You can just leave the radio screen on and set the brightness/contrast to super dark. My wife hates it when it do this in our truck. For some reason she likes having the screen set to daylight levels.

That's a lot better, but still not completely dark.
