I like this quote:
"Mr. Weyer is happy to see the popularity of his invention, and hopes that it will spread to other models besides the Ford Mustang. "The popularity of the "MyColor ™" option in the Ford Mustang shows that this is a feature that drivers like and want. I expect that other car manufacturers will want to offer a similar option as well. If they do, I think they will find, as Ford did, that I am willing to grant patent licenses on very reasonable terms."

REASONABLE TERMS?!? Tell that to all the people waiting and waiting for their vehicle..

This is good news. One less obstacle for production! Thanks for posting the article. Personally, I'm glad the matter was resolved in this manner. I only wish it were done sooner. Although the law can move slowly at times, I think this case was settled relatively quickly.

It wasn't MyColor that sold the IUP, it was the whole rest of the deal. I have a feeling Ford might get rid of MyColor for the 2006 MY but still offer the rest of the IUP. I doubt many people would be that disapointed.

I actually think MyColor was a driving factor for a lot of people when deciding to with the IUP. Then again, thats just my opinion. I know thats why I wanted the IUP....then I got greedy and dumped it for my car sooner rather than later

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, this is definitely good news.

I like this part -
"I have received e-mails from many Mustang enthusiasts who were concerned that my lawsuit would delay delivery of their 2005 Mustangs. Some even asked whether I would grant them individual patent licenses so that they could receive their car. I am happy to tell them that the matter has been resolved, and Ford is free to deliver Mustangs with the "MyColor ™" system.

Way to go TMS people! You know that many of those emails came from our members. He sure seems happy. That tells me the deal was pretty sweet for him. Guess who is gonna pay for that? It will get buried in the next price increase. No way is MyColor going away. How many people said "Cool!" the first time a salesman showed them this toy? I believe it was a factor in many sales. Heck, I would have given the guy $4 for it.

My Color had very little to do with the popularity of IUP.

Oh come now... if you had invented something, submitted it to a large company, and they never responded but a year later what you submitted suddenly showed up in their hottest product, you might be a little pissed too! I know I would. I for one am happy for the guy. He has a great invention and now he's being rightfully compensated for it. Nothing wrong with that. It's how America works! B)

Besides, I think the delivery problem has much more to do with independent dealerships screwing over customers and Ford's backlog of orders rather than this lawsuit. If ya wanna bash someone for the long waits for this car, go after your fellow Mustang fans for ordering before you and a take a baseball bat to a few unsavory dealership GMs.

I've got a different take on it, Mr Weyer is no stranger to this kind of thing.

Glad that it's over

I surprised this guy hasn't patented the internet! What a way to make a living.

Now that I think about it, the sales person never even mentioned the "MyColor" feature. I knew it had it, but wasn't my reason for wanting the IUP. I really just wanted the aluminum dash and satin trim pieces, felt it just finished off the retro cool look of the interior.

I do think it's cool, but if it were offered as a stand alone upgrade I wouldn't have bought it.

Mr Weyer had every right to go after FORD, so I don't know why soooooo many people insist on pointing the finger at him.

The MY COLOR was a big reason for wanting the IUP initial ...for me. But if not available, I still would have ordered the IUP for the rest of it...I am just glad I have it........I LOVE IT!!!

Good news......

I'm sooo glad I waited and got my Mustang as ordered with full IUP rather than reordering with IUP lite and it's great news that at least legal issues won't hold up delivery to others here still waiting. For me the MyColor really does make the car special and is one reason I ordered new rather than waiting another year or two to find a used model which would be less expensive but not equiped this way.

I agree with Sixty Six. This guy was scum and not some innocent fella with a cool idea. Delphi already had a patent on My Color with this guys patent already acknowledged. I hope he didn't get much at all from this. On the bright side, one less blemish on the Mustang coming out.

Oh, and I want IUP for the trim and message center. The MyColor is a nice gadget, but I could definitely live with out it.
