My rear didn't drop?

I spent the weekend installing the Ford 1" drop springs. It was quite an adventure. I also installed a Ford brake cooling kit I bought awhile ago. I also discovered the tie-rod boots were split, so I put in new outer tie-rod ends while it was apart.

The front dropped down the advertized 1", the rear however only dropped 1/2".
I've only driven it 10 miles so far. Hope it will settle and go lower.

Anyone have similiar results?

Give the springs a few days to settle. Same thing happened with mine.

We installed the same FRPP "P" springs on mine acouple months ago and we noticed the drop immediately. The front went almost an inch & the rear dropped alittle more then an inch after the first drive around the block. Not sure if she's dropped any further now or not.

I'm not saying you have something wrong with yours, just giving my experience with those springs.

yea they shouldn't have to settle in, you should see the drop right away. They might settle in a year or more but slightly

Thx for the inputs,

I wouldn't think a quality spring would settle. Front looks nice with the 1" drop, just disappointed the rear didn't come down.

You might want to make sure they're in the right way... they may be upside down.

Boy that would be bad, but an easy fix I guess.

I put them in with the closely wound portion facing up, you can read the Ford PN when looking at them installed?

I fought with the front for a whole day, the rears only took about 2hrs.

The rears are always the easiest!

Did you orient the spring tails in the upper spring seats correctly? You can't see it but you can feel that the spring seats are like those on the undersides of the front strut mounts.

It's possible the spring tails are just over the rise in the seats....

I installed the Ford K springs with a 1.5" drop last October. The rear dropped a little over an inch but since then has settled and sits about 1 3/8 now. It took a couple months.

Unless you put on CHE relocation brackets first.

This might be a possibility, I didn't know there was an orientation?

The tail of the spring. If you had removed the springs from the rear and reached up inside the upper spring perch, you'd have felt there was a rubber seat that is grooved to fit the spring. It's got a slight slope with a wall at one end where the spring tail fits into.

I've heard to leave the tail about 1/2" from that wall to prevent squeaking.

That's interesting, I didn't check /feel during the install.
I did go back and look at the factory service manual, it didn't mention it, and the pic didn't show anything on the pic?

You've actually changed your springs and seen this stop on the factory spring seat?

Yeah, you have to align the coil with the seat on both the top and bottom (front & rear). That could be your issue..

Well, I'm positive the bottom rubber seat on the axle did NOT have a stop. It is just a flat piece of rubber.
