My Parents Surprised Me!
I am turning 16 on July the 18th and I have always wanted a Mustang as my first car. So I found a '05 at a dealer about 150 miles from our house about a month ago and I tell my parents that the car has everything on it that I want minus IUP. So I just leave it alone from there. Then two days ago we got a letter from the stupid dealer my dad bought the car from saying your license plates are ready to pick up at the dealer and it totally ruined the surprise for me. My Mom and Dad were so mad. They said they worked so hard to keep it a secret and he told the dealer that it was a surprise. So I know I’m getting the car and I thought they had it at my grandma’s house and weren't giving it to me till it was closer to my b-day. So today I said dad lets drive down to the Ford dealership here and just see what they have. My grandma was down at our house and she and my mom decided to go. So we get to our little dealership which usually has very few Mustangs and I see one just like I wanted and I said huh they never have anything good. So we all get out to look at it and there was a SOLD tag hanging on the rear view mirror. I started looking and I said this is exactly like the car I wanted that was 150 miles away from our house. I knew it had active anti-theft and my dad pulled on the door handle and the alarm went off and I said dad what did you do (I thought it did that b/c of that alarm system) then, the trunk popped. My dad closed it and it popped again. Then I turned around and I see my bro and his wife standing behind a truck pressing the buttons on the key ring and then I knew it was mine. They live by that dealership that I saw the car at and they drove it down here b/c they were coming in for father’s day. Even though the dealer ruined the surprise of me getting that car I didn't know when I was getting it. I was speechless. I am planing to put GT front and rear bumpers and side skirts b/c I like the way they look better than the ones on there right know and my dad ordered me some 18 by 8 Boyd Coddington Smoothie IIs w/ BF Goodrich KDW-ds- 255/45/18. I would also like to add a SSE ducktail. So without further a due here is my car. It's a Torch Red V6 w/ the Medium Parchment interior. Options include: leather, active anti-theft, wheel locking kit, and spoiler delete.

congrat`s... by the way we share the same birthday...
Congratulations Cameron. That is a great story and something you will remember for the rest of your life. Pass the generosity on to your own kids (when they get here, of course) and enjoy the ride.
Congrats Cam07.
Just remember that it took a lot of hard work for your folks to be able to do this for you. I don't want to preach, but remember that good things come to those who work for them.
I too was surprised with my first Mustang.
I had a buddy at school who had a '66 that he had to sell 'cause he got his girlfriend pregnant and they were getting married. I jokingly said to him I would buy it. He stopped over to my house that night while I was at work. My dad bought the car. My dad made sure that I was home the following night because he needed my help. My buddy pulls in with the pony, still clueless to what is going on, he hands me the keys. I dirtied my shorts. Another buddy of his pulls in. He signs the tilte and they take off.
Now my dad not giving me the car for nothing sets up a payment schedule and I pay the car off in about 10 months. I payed $1,100.00 for it in 1978.
It eventually got totalled. Got a payoff from the insurance company, bought it back from the insurance company for $30.00. Gave the car to a buddy who had a '65. He took the pony interior and some other stuff and dumped the car. He has still got his '65 with my stuff on it.
Be thankful and hug and kiss your folks til they can't stand you anymore.

The first car I owned myself was a 1985 Honda Prelude -- and to this day it's still my favorite car of all.
Congratulations on your birthday and the car. Again, not to preach, but being 16, make sure you're really careful in this car. You will want it to last a long time. If I were you I would volunteer to pay the insurance -- that way you will true feel the value of such a generous gift, and that will reinforce you to take good care of it.
I wish I had done the same when I was 16 -- it took a few years and several accidents to finally become a responsible driver.
