I stopped by my dealer today to check on the Mustang I ordered on 11-23-04. He said the Ford Representative told the general manager that there is a 99.8% chance that my car wouldn't ever be built. He didn't know if this was strictly from the IUP or had something to do with the ICAP. My dealer asked if I wanted to change my order. I said NO-leave it and I'll hope it gets built or I guess I'll be waiting for an '06. I'm not going to order a car I don't want. It was a very frustrating experience. As of 1-13-05, it is listed as clean and unscheduled.

Hold fast! Don't let clueless dealers derail you from getting what you want.

I noticed that I'm priority 12. Is that a big deal?

Hang in there! I have gone through the same series of ups and downs. I finally received a build week.

There is no problem with ICAP, it's with the IUP.
That really blows man. :bang:

My dealer made it sound like the Ford Rep told them that they weren't going to be producing them anymore with the IUP. This has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. I really don't care as long as I have the car by the end of March but to be told it might not get built is annoying. I would have ordered earlier but the dealer said to come in and order 12 weeks before you want the car just to be safe. I came in about 16 weeks early just to be extra safe and I'm getting pissed.

Dealer also said if it did happen to get built that it most likely wouldn't be until July.

Hang in there, just have to be patient. I know you're tired of hearing that but it's the best course to follow.

Maybe he's used up all his allocations.

They haven't sold a single GT. They've never gotten 1 in. I think they've sold one V6 and they have another in the showroom. I don't know what their allocation would be.

If the dealer just said "Hang in there. There is a delay but it should be built in a couple months." then I would be fine. Telling me there is a 99.8% chance it won't be built has me steamed. It's not the wait that bothers me, it's the possibility of not even getting my car.

The snow won't be gone in Petoskey until July anyway!

Just kidding!

B) Hang in there. I'm 99.8% sure the Ford Rep is smoking crack.

He better be smoking crack. I've never ordered a car before. Is all this crap normal for the 1st year a car comes out or has Ford really screwed up this Mustang launch? Also, nobody answered my priority question. Is it a big deal to be priority 12 vs priority 10?

Shop around... as a backup plan...

Priority 12 probably means your car was the 3rd one ordered...
-Priority 10 (1) Sold V6
-Priority 11 (2) Showroom V6
-Priority 12 (3) Your GT

Actually a Priority 10 is the lowest # a dealer can assign to an order. So a 12 means look at a couple others first. When Ford is looking to build a vehicle in your order bank they look at the lowest # first then move up the list till they find one they can and want to build next. They also are looking of rone's with no comodity holds.

Just hang tight. Thats what I keep telling myself & I just ordered.
Got to throw out a little MI love. Former Coopersville Bronco here. Orthoguy, if I ever drive the car home (I'm thinking of taking that new ferry across the lake this summer), I'll have to come check out your ride.

Sorry for the hijack, you may now return to your regularly scheduled programing.

Well that’s always nice to hear. I say you leave this dealership and get any money back you may have given them that’s the worst thing ever.

By the way, if the title of any thread is "Is my dealer high?", the answer, without even reading the topic, is 99.8% YES!!
