My Car and Vintage WWII Aircraft

The other weekend I heard about two WWII aircraft coming to Pittsburgh. I was hoping for a third (a P-51 Mustang), but it had mechanical problems. Long story short, I got to fly in one of the aircraft. Afterwards I was talking with one of the pilots and asked if I could pull my car around and take some pictures. He was fine with the idea if the airport let me bring my car on the tarmac. So I asked and sure enough, they said it was fine by them.

Holy Cow, I never thought they would say yes. I was already grinning from ear to ear from flying the AT-6 Texan and now I got to experience a second 'once in a lifetime opportunity.' I pulled my car on the tarmac and only got one shot with the Texan, but the B-25 was stationary for longer so I had more time to take shots. The owners said if they bring the P-51 back in the area, they would let me know so I can get more shots with that plane too.

How cool!

I have leaned towards that picture the most as well. The brakes are factory, just painted them and put a decal of a mustang on them.

Good luck on finding the wheels. I called about a cap and they said they are on back order for at least a 6 months.

I do agree about the drop, however, there are too many potholes, bumps, parking bumpers, valleys/hills transistions in the road, etc.. that I have to get around. I have already scraped my chin a couple times at its current height. I don't want to lower it and make it worse.

For some reason, Magnum/Mach 1 style wheels are THE only ones that can pull off the stock ride height. They just look so good with some fat tires and the factory raked look. I say leave it as is, especially with the crappy roads in your area. Good call on painting the factory calipers and adding the pony. Looks OEM!

You can put them up at photobucket or googles picasa albums. Just put some links here. Pref in 1680x1050.

Paint that Chin spoiler and you will be set. Looks out of place. Great photos though.
