My baby is gone!!!!

Last night my 05 was totaled by of all things a moose! On my way home from a great day of fishing a moose decided it needed to get to the other side of the road. The roads up here are very dark at night and oncoming traffic prevented me from using high beams. By the time I saw him it was to late, brakes are good but not that good!!

Happy to say both of us are doing fine. I got showered with glass from the drivers side window and my passenger just got bounced around a little.

Not sure what the insurance company will do but my guess is it will be a total loss. Next is what they will give me for her?? 05 with 103500 miles, auto,shaker500.

Sorry to hear about the car. Glad y'all are safe.

Did the Moose survive the ordeal?

No the moose was dead on the side of the road. Hit him at 55-60mph. I have a picture but didn't think it was right to post. He was about 600-700lbs.

It'll buff out...

I see the moose hair in the glass - wife hit a coyote and the hair lodged itself everywhere - even between the rims & tires - even if it can be salvaged, make sure it doesn't smell like a moose when it's all said & done. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it looks like the driver's pillars are bent in a bit - that's part of the frame and a big safety issue - I don't think you can salvage that correctly.

Glad you're OK - the thing could have went *through* the interior and would be a very different story for everyone.

OUCH! That's a very scary situation, I'm glad YOU and your passenger are okay! Mooses are nothing to trifle with.

Kind of surprised your airbags didn't go off, but that is a lot of damage.

Were you able to harvest the moose?

Ronin, the fire fighters must have called someone because as soon as the mess was cleaned up there was a guy pulling the moose up into his truck with a winch.
I was also surprised they didn't go off either but looking at the front bumper where he hit it must have missed the crash sensor??

Moose are so tall it's scary. They tend to hit windshield with full force because their bodies are so high.

Glad you are alright.

Wow glad everyone was ok. I've hit a couple smaller animals on backroads at night and thats scary enough. I cant imagine hitting a 700 pound moose

Adjuster was out today and gave me the word that it is a total loss.
My question to all you guys is with the damage on the bumper do you think the airbags should have deployed? Or did I miss the sensor??
