My 2006 Torch Red GT with Saleen VI Supercharger

Finally got around to taking out the Mustang GT after its long hibernation following this past winter... It was sure a gorgeous day for beginning the new car meet season

First drive of this spring to begin the new car meet season...

Thanks Lee! It's been quite awhile since last posting a pic, so finally got around to it this past Friday, as it was opening day to begin the new car meet season here in southwestern PA... Anyway, the car does indeed rip and can keep right up there with the first gen Coyote 5.0 4v... When the car was last on the dyno, it made 425RWHP @ 7.5 lbs. boost with 3.6" pulley... Not too shabby for a 4.6L 3v lol.

hard to believe that car is 17 years old ... looks brand new, and it's a timeless design, IMHO

Thank you Gary! Yes, It took quite a while to find enough motivation to finally get around to taking her out of the garage... I think Tony actually takes out his Roush/Stage3 more often than I take out my GT

Thank you John! Time has sure gone by fast during the past 17 years lol... My mileage is just barely over 31k original miles, so perhaps one of the reasons it continues to look in new like condition is that I only drive it to car meets during the spring, summer and early fall months... Other than that, she always stays garage kept under the car cover... I also don't expose the Mustang to rainy weather conditions, unless I'm caught off guard unexpectedly on those unpredictable rare occasions

That thing is beautiful, nasty with the blower. I love it Rocky. I wanted to put that blower or a Whipple on my 08 Shelby GT, but the cost outweighed getting rid of it for the 11 gt500 at the time.

IMO you made the right choice by upgrading to the 11 GT500 Lee ... In the meantime, I'll take and post an updated pic with the Saleen blower

I couldn't do it myself for physical reasons like I used to, but I had already talked to Brenspeed about it and Tasca so it would be certified as a GT/SC on the number plate on the CS Core support vin tag, only Tasca, Shelby Vegas and a place in Texas was the only ones authorized to do the gt/sc conversion kit and have the number with the big brakes and blower and gauges, etc.

The numbers and travel is just didn't work out for me. The economy was in the tank 09 - 11 and I could get a 500 5-6 thousand below sticker because you couldn't give them away with 5 dollar gas. So I went to the 500 and never looked back.

But I still miss the sgt, it was a fantastic car. I loved it, just down on power from what I liked.

If you weren't able to install the blower yourself due to physical reasons Lee, you were much better off selling the GT/CS and upgrading to the 5.4L 11 GT500 which was already S/C equipped from the factory anyhow... I would have done the very same, but wasn't willing to settle for taking a loss by selling my "06" GT for less money than what I had already put into it... In fact, I recently came across someone last week from a local car meet who just had his Saleen VI supercharger rebuilt by Jon Bond Performance, inform him that a rebuilt Saleen VI supercharger may now be worth up to 10k due to being hard to come by ever since Saleen discontinued production approx. 12 years ago... If what Jon Bond Performance claims is accurate? then it would most definitely be in my best interest to continue holding onto my "06" GT with Saleen VI blower.

Thanks Shaney! I've always loved your 2013 as well and how you've made it your very own with all the mod upgrades thru the years. Despite now being 17 years old, I still continue getting compliments from folks giving the thumbs up when driving by and especially from folks at car meets... Anyway, as much as I love the look of the S550 Mustangs, it was the retro styling of the S197 Mustangs that continue to blow me away just as much as they did when first introduced over 18 years ago. So yes, it is very hard indeed to believe it's been nearly 20 years since the S197 was first introduced... Just the thought of it alone is scary good.

Thanks for the kind words! I too love the S197. Wonder some days if I should update to an S550, but they just don't grab my eye like a nice clean well maintained S197 when I see one on the street.

Mine, like yours, is still low mileage. Still has that new car smell and shine. I have a hard time not looking back when she is parked and I am walking away. Ford did a great job with bringing back the excitement when they brought out the 2005 models. Even though mine is a 2014 and it is almost 10 years since I got her, I still look at the design and admire how beautiful these cars are. There are some S550s that I like, but not as much as these.

If only I were able to afford owning 2 toys and multiple car garage? I would add an S550 as a stable mate along with my "06" GT, but unfortunately, I don't have enough disposable income to make that happen... Therefore, knowing that I have only enough disposable income to own just one toy, I just could not ever justify parting with my "06" GT despite having a strong desire to own an S550 Mustang... My reason is this, when I first saw images of the S197 as a concept car at the 2003 North America International Auto Show, I was instantly so blown away by the S197 Mustang's retro styling which immediately took me back to the 1st generation 65-70 Mustangs that I admired as a youngster during the mid 1960's... Needless to say, despite the very impressive, modern styling of the current S550 generation, no other Mustang has ever had quite the same impact as the S197 when compared to the original styling of the 1st generation 65-70 Mustang, at least in my honest opinion anyhow... The retro styling of the S197 Mustang also had such a strong impact on the folks over at Mopar when they decided to resurrect the Dodge Challenger following a 34-year extinction in 2008 along with GM following suit in 2010 when they brought the Camaro back from the dead following it's 7-year hiatus lol. Anyhow, those are pretty much all the reasons regarding my deep attachment and bias towards the S197 Mustang.

Right there with you. Loved the prototype S197! Glad they were able to keep it true to the styling. Ford gave us a modern day classic right from the gate of the S197. And you are right Ford sparked a return to the 60s/70s muscle car heritage in many lines by bring this car out. Glad they did it!

Ford most certainly did bring us a modern-day classic from the gate with the retro styling of the S197 Mustang... Former VP of design at Ford, J.Mays said the S197 Mustang was considered a retro-futuristic design which in my honest opinion is exactly 100% spot on...Also, had it not been for the huge success of the S197s retro styling, there would be no Dodge Challenger in existence following a 34-year extinction nor would have GM designed an all-new retro styled Camaro following a 7-year hiatus lol.

Just goes to show Ford is always #1 no matter how hard the competition is trying to catch up.
